Had nothing to do with an argument not to criticize lack of any progress I was simply stating having glaring deficits does not exclude the sim de facto from being the best of the major sims in terms of the very broad criteria we were talking about which was "global weather experience". Boats will also bob and weave now, as seen in the trailer. Ok cool I missed that so re-watched it, it was Seb who mentions the bobbing in the water at 30:34 - so that sounds promising 👍 whilst earlier at 26:30 Jorg whilst talking about the water visually stated they didn’t do anything different other than change the lighting. Seeing as MSFS2024 relies even more on servers for streaming data, have you got plans to better cope with these issues and a Plan B when systems outside of your control go down as well as better preventative measures for systems within your control?" Like to see them talk about that! Lol. This is a developer stream, not a hearing before Congress.

September 7, 20241 yr What worries me is what worries many that at this point and with so little time left for the launch we hear practically nothing about what some users are most concerned about, physics especially physics on the ground and the last 50 feet, clouds as you mention and weather representation etc.

And I limit frames to 45. So to get the kind of particle (voxel) density we need to create clouds with very distinct morphologies we need either a new vastly more efficient graphics engine to or we need a giant increase in GPU computing power or some net increase therein. IOW, for the moment I think we're stuck. Well, a render scaling of 160 (at 4K?) will surely consume a lot of processing power, even on the 4090. I've no idea how this cloud technology works, but it would seem that for at least the RTX4000-series, there should be enough headroom to improve cloud density a bit. Of course, if they decide to throw ray tracing into the mix, that might change things. But looking at the trailers, I haven't noted any huge change in cloud density or appearance. Perhaps the addition of cirrus layers is new? (I can't remember). 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

September 7, 20241 yr Not sure how so many people found a way to be miserable, argumentative gits over a simple announcement of the date for the first time they'd be going in-depth on answering questions and talking about MSFS2024 lol. I won't be surprised if there's a wave of preview articles and videos going out from the media before this date too. Given the setting, I'd imagine they'll be going in-depth on more sim-focused elements of the new product. One thing I'd be curious to see about the 'missions' though, is how complex the implementation is - like if you're doing a search and rescue call, how closely does it hew to actual real-life procedures? Beyond that, I'm interested in hearing more about most of the same things as everyone else. Edited September 7, 20241 yr by Scottoest
