October 6, 20241 yr Haven't seen this posted here yet: The German-language flightsim news site cruiselevel.de has figured out what PMDG's secret project is: The 747-100. https://cruiselevel.de/pmdg-goes-old-school/ Confirmed by Robert Randazzo on the PMDG forum. I hope there will be more information from PMDG on this soon.

I hope there will be more information from PMDG on this soon. I have read the details in the PMDG forum and have seen Robert's responses. It certainly looks like it but I am not sure if it can be 100% confirmed. I can't tell if Robert is being sarcastic or serious on this one? Earlier in one of the threads at the PMDG forum he said it was not a 747-200. the 100 and 200 are pretty close externally so its hard to say!
October 6, 20241 yr Author Have to say, I find it hard to read this response from Robert as anything else than serious: Quote Andreas- You just got yourself a complimentary copy of the soon-to-be-unveiled PMDG 747-100 Classic Whale. That was excellent work, and you are dead on correct with the item from the previous image! Nicely done! - RSR

October 6, 20241 yr I wonder if they picked up the unfinished Justflight 747 classic that's been heavily delayed since the launch of FS2020?

So with Randazzo acknowledging that it matches, I don't think he is being sarcastic. Randazzo gave the image as hint in the first place, and he knew that this particular image would be matched eventually by the community, which appears what has happened. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Don’t know about that, I was awarded a free copy of the original NGX back in the day and his response was extremely similar for me. Who knows though. October 6, 20241 yr If they managed to contract Felis, the author of the 742 for X-Plane, then that would bring, almost for sure, a great rendition of the 742 🙂 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
October 6, 20241 yr Not sure a 747-100 is going to be a big seller. For one it’s a 3 person cockpit with an insanely high workload for a single MSFS pilot and the demands of flying raw data is beyond the scope of most desktop pilots. Even when you see the likes of Flightdeck2sim in the steam gauge aircraft he is clearly at the limits of his capacity for much of the time, and he’s a real rated pilot. There’s a reason that that the A320 family consistently ranks number one on Avsim and Volanta etc, and that’s simply because the high level of automation lends itself well to desktop simulation.

Personally, I do think there's a market for it. How many A320s and 737s do we need? Time to get into them classic liners and dig deeper into the learning curve. For me, the RFP 747 was a great experience back then, now having a classic 747 in a modern sim, is something I definitely look forward to. Its a breath of fresh air that the big companies are willing to take on some classics. As for the workload, engineers panel can be automated as other products and product lines have shown. I have no doubt just like the DC-6, the workload will be shared between user and virtual crew.
October 6, 20241 yr You don't promise a free copy of anything "sarcastically". Randazzo is obviously 100% serious and I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise. Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com
