Trees in MSFS 2024

I never said the trees in FS2020 don't sway in the wind.

I never said you did either.  :uwe_melk_sblh:

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

  • I didn't notice anything odd in terms of tree size. I was very impressed with how the trees look though. Also how they move in the wind. Here's a shot from Northern Norway, where it's realistic to hav

  • Some would argue that the real problem is there aren't enough trees in the real world😃

Considering that there are trees literally everywhere in MSFS 2020, is that supposed to inspire us with confidence?

You say there are literally trees everywhere, the other guy said they oversize the trees to hide the fact that they limit the number of trees for performance reasons....Now I understand how some developers must feel, can't please everyone😄

Rendering trees only in the locations where they actually exist would automatically result in performance benefits!

I installed 2024 yesterday with the game pass offer, apart from the same errors in the 2020 photogrammetry in the LEMU area I see the same problem with giant trees that gives an unreal aspect to the area. Is there any solution or software that corrects the size and location of trees in 2024 ?

Bijan studio product for MSFS2024 is what you want :

Density, diversity, clean coastal areas, one of the best investment done ATM.

First, I fly and like both FS2020 and FS2024.

Too many trees is by far the biggest issue of FS2024 for me. Without modifications I had difficulties visually navigating between small cities in Eastern Europe.

There are 2 separate issues:

A) Tree size - I believe relatively easy to fix, several mods were available for FS20.

B) Tree placement - FS20 did a great job, the tree lines (edges) were at the right spots, at least for me. Or do I take that for reality after 4 years of use?

FS24 on the other hand places trees everywhere, especially in the urban areas (at least in Europe). Way too many.

Fixing this seems to be pretty laborious task: The devs write: I fixed several beaches in California, I fixed Madeira.... And I think: Oh, no, it will take ages before we get to tree placement as we had it in FS20! Isn't there a global solution??

I am currently aware of 3 methods how to influence trees on FS24. I tried them all:

1) Mod by Bijan, available on Simmarket,

2) Mods by Taburet, available on Simmarket,

3) Reducing Trees in Settings from Ultra to Medium. This not only removes tree shadows and increases FPS, but it also reduces the amount if trees spreading out of the central tree locations. The tree patches are simply smaller in the countryside. A bit.

I own both Bijan and Taburet. I did several flights with Taburet and only one with Bijan (then holidays came).

It seems to me that the approach of Bijan is subtle for an average autogen European city with autogen (not discussing PG here at all). I believe he did something there, but the single flight wasn't enough.

Do we know what Bijan's approach is to generic landscape and urban areas? What did he do there, please?

The approach by Taburet is much more aggressive. You notice immediately there are smaller trees and less of them. That is good.

The disadvantage is, that the tree density is reduced everywhere (!). City parks then get just a few trees, you can see ground textures in plain view there. Also forests then get very low density of trees. In other words,  trees seem to grow on places where you want them, not on too many locations, but the intended deep forests are not convincing anymore with large gaps between trees....

Bottom line, so far I didn't manage to reach the golden standard of FS2020 with modded reduced tree size.

Any tips would be very much welcome, please.

How is it possible for Asobo to make the tree identification routine even worse in MSFS 2024 than it was in MSFS 2020? I thought that updates were designed to improve things, not make them worse?

They are, unfortunately in 4 long years MS & Asobo have still failed to get the memo (see various other areas of both Sims).

Happens to my company all the time. You try to fix one thing but break something else. That's inevitable with complex software packages.

The question here is what WE can do now to enjoy the sim even before some official rectification is published who knows when....

Trees are definitely too tall but I don't think it has anything to do with Asobo trying to increase performance. It is probably down to the AI not interpreting things correctly.

I must be an word not allowed when it comes to trees but to me the trees in MSFS2024 look absolutely great. A very huge and really appreciated improvement over 2020!

Oh, absolutely! Single trees are the best we ever had!! They look amazing.

The issue is their placement (too many in urban areas) and evt. their height.

I can also imagine there are many areas in MSFS2024 where the trees are spot on. I have problems with them in Germany and central and eastern Europe.

Where do you think the trees look good, please? Where do you fly?

Western Europe, trees set to High, flying the Vision Jet only so not low and slow. They look perfect during take off and landing and also when cruising at around FL280. Not too high or anything and not too much at all. Don't fly too often over urban areas, I have to add.
