Trees in MSFS 2024

Tree sizes were generally accurate, but I found some issues: misplaced/tall trees in incorrect locations (e.g., mountain tops) and missing seasonal changes in some areas or many places with sparse trees or no tree at all where there should be. Hopefully, these will be fixed by release. On the bright side, editing capabilities allow for easy corrections, as I was able to remove tall trees on hills in Iceland during alpha testing.
Actual 3d tree models are in clouds but editing can be done locally.

  • I didn't notice anything odd in terms of tree size. I was very impressed with how the trees look though. Also how they move in the wind. Here's a shot from Northern Norway, where it's realistic to hav

  • Some would argue that the real problem is there aren't enough trees in the real world😃

MSFS 2024 😊

I honestly had a lot of difficulty telling on my tablet, even when I zoomed in. Maybe it's more obvious on a PC monitor.

Enjoy. 😉

I will. They looked great in the alpha already and will look great in the final release 😉

And now you’ll likely won’t be able to make them smaller using mods or addons because it’s all on the cloud and protected. Enjoy. 😉

And a developer just disproved that, enjoy 😉

Plenty of videos have already been posted in the 2024 alpha thread. such as this one.

There is No Evidence of trees swaying in the wind. Just some leaves moving, slightly.

I can't help but think is that the reason why they constantly oversize the trees is to reduce them in numbers to keep performance up. The smaller trees are the more can be generated. The more you generate the more this will effect performance.

This.

I doubt it. That's one of the weaknesses of their AI tree planting algorithm. It still doesn't know where the tree line is. Neither when it comes to above MSL nor when it comes to latitude. And its capability to recognize them on the satelite images without the help of OSM data are still severly limited.

I saw a video of a landing at Barra, Scotland. There are supposed to be no trees, yet there were plenty.

So people will still need to fix the tree placement manually I fear.

Jörg said in several interviews that they added a trillion trees to MSFS 2024 and are now at a total of 3 trillion trees, compared to about 2 trillion in MSFS 2020.

Do the new trees in FS2024 sway in the wind?

Any video of this?

The 'old' trees in MSFS2020 also swayed in the wind, so although the newer trees in MSFS2024 look much better, this tree movement is not a new feature.

Considering that there are trees literally everywhere in MSFS 2020, is that supposed to inspire us with confidence?

I never said the trees in FS2020 don't sway in the wind.
