By doing this, since DXCache folders are associated with the specific driver, you will find those folders will completely empty and not repopulate, whereas if you just delete them w/o going thru the uninstall first that last set of associated shaders will repopulate. I know several times when I've done this I noticed improved freedom from stuttering. Right now I rarely ever see any stutters anywhere it's fabulous. Used the NV clean install program this time (first time) and clean install option. Is that not accomplishing this? NVM used disk cleanup and saw the checkbox. It has been checked so this has been done regularly.... Edited November 13, 20241 yr by Flyfaster_MTN002 SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

You can test your theory perhaps by keeping the DXCache folder open while you run the clean install, IF it is done prior to rebooting. I use NV Clean Install option as well and notice NVCP settings are returned to default but don't know if it grapples with the DXCache folder. In fact, until I got on to my method described above that folder has a massive number of entries which suggests perhaps all of those other driver updates did not remove them and those I always used Clean Install option with. I'm going to update to this new driver after I land at CYVR and will report back if able to evaluate the theory. Report: yep, you're right the prior entries were deleted in fact the whole folder was. All thanks to those million casual MSFS gamers that keep getting a side eye by some hard core FS veterans. Albeit "gaming" is not my type of use for MSFS, I can't be happier about gamers funding my main hobby 😄 P3D never had the chance to grow an addon environment like we see around MSFS, because it was always main targeted towards aviation professionals.

Or better yet how do you delete it. The way I do it: 1. Set shader cache size to "disabled" under global 3D settings in NCP 2. Reboot PC 3. Delete the contents of the following folders: %userProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache %localAppData%\NVIDIA\GLCache %localAppData%\D3DSCache 4. Set shader cache size to "driver default" Some claim that shader cache files are automatically deleted when updating the driver. I just updated the driver, and the files are still there. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

I wouldn't be too worried. From my standpoint, if I'm having lockups or CTD's or stutters, then I may consider deleting the shader cache. If I'm installing new drivers, sometimes I do it, sometimes not. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 14, 20241 yr Great driver, no stutters, noticeable FPS improvement.- Read that the last DLSS is included

Those usually have to be "installed" separately per game. E.g. for MSFS2020 the .dll file(s) need to me manually copied to the sim folder. EDIT: I'm on 3.7.2 for the "regular" version and 3.7.1 for the "frame gen" version. Just checked on TechPowerUp, and NVIDIA DLSS DLL 3.8.10 ("regular" DLSS .dll) was uploaded yesterday. NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation DLL is still 3.7.1 i.e. not updated since June 13th. I'm not using the DLSS Swapper. I just copy the .dll files into my sim folder*, and replace. *depends on MS Store vs Steam, and also MS Store legacy vs modern.
