Were you charged for your MSFS2024 install?

The only advantage was you get the free fire bomber that you can use right away in MS2020.  And I have to admit, it is quite good for a default plane.

The other possible advantage is, you get the payment details done and the pre-install, so you can avoid the mad rush, and slow servers on day one release. So if you  are the kind of person that must have it on day one, this might be a good option.

If you are the type of person that will wait a while, and wait for feedback, then there is no real advantage.

You get to come back here on Tuesday and complain about the one or two show-stopping bugs, various airplane issues, and the inevitable 2 or 3 default aircraft that wouldn’t be worth the insurance money if you flew them into the ocean a few hours before the rest of the people still downloading the simulator.

I pre-ordered the MS2024 through my PC XBOX app yesterday. After my paypal payment was approved, I saw my selection in the XBOX folder. From there , I selected the PLAY (or something like that) option and could then load the initial configuration for the new Flightsim files, including the folder names etc.  When finished, I now  have the New Flightsim  Icon on my desktop, which will start the game.....reminding one that it isn't yet loaded. The temporary name showing on the ICON is "Limitless".  This shows that everything is installed and ready for Nov 19.  Enjoy !

The disadvantage is there isn't just one version to preorder, there are fourteen to choose from. 2 platforms x 5 levels = 10, and the Xbox platform has 4.

There is a possibility that if you bought say #6 and end up wishing for #11 after you start seeing the reviews on Youtube. All that is promised sometimes isn't pleasing or even more seriously flawed.

When I made my purchase around 19/10, I thought the transaction had been completed, and didn't even check the Credit Card, but yesterday I received a message in my MS account recover email (because I never or almost never check my MS sims account email) saying the transaction hadn't completed.

I checked the home banking app and indeed around November 10 they tried  to finally charge the version I purchased - Standard - but the operation was refused...

Make sure you check, on install day, that contrarily to MSFS 2020 it appears that 2024 only installs into your xBox folder in Windows... Unless you have enough space in your "C : " drive and are willing to install it there, you'll have to reposition xBox to another drive...

With 2020 during the install while the core was put ( just a couple GB ) into C:\Xbox Games and a few other system folders, one had the option to install the main sim folders into another drive / partition...

Seems a bit of a racket to me. Paying for something before you receive it. But hey, that’s just me.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Everything I buy online that has to be shipped to me is paid for before I get it, too.

I would guess the initial download will be about 80 GB. It was about 150 GB for 2020.

MSFS 2024 will be my first purchase of a Microsoft sim. I was using P3D for the last several years. There are so many things I don't know such as what is an x-box app, and do I need it for a PC installation? Also, does this sim require a Game Pass subscription in addition to the Sim purchase price? This is the only product I'm planning on using. Thanks.
