My first impressions of MSFS2024

First Impressions?

This thing doesn't work.

I've spent hours watching spinning circles and queue/bandwidth/server errors.  Now that I'm able to get to the main menu any attempts to fly are met with more bandwidth errors and spinning circles.  I've yet to see a runway.

Asobo are well aware of the numbers.  This was some economic decision on server capacity expectations post launch or longer term.

I do not accept their apology.

Let me tell you what I think is the point why this has become such a ( another disaster, see MSFS release on 2020 ).
From Microsoft and or Asobo ( but I think mainly from MS ) the date was set to this unholy 19.11.2024
and it was not ready again ( like MSFS 2020 back then )

But because you are a huge and powerful company, this deadline had to be met in any case, come what may, it's almost always like that, and because you would have needed more time but didn't get it, you can still update the MSFS 2024 later, but the deadline has been met.
But honestly guys, I knew that from the start - it's a really bad thing to proceed like this !!!!!

That's why I didn't buy the MSFS 2024 ( now )!

cheers 🤔

I think there really needs to be a 2020 forum and a seperate 2024 forum. This place is going to be insufferable for those of us who have a working 2020 sim and just want to browse without navigating 1

  • Not every poor decision is unchangeable. There are separate forums for every version of MSFS prior to 2020: the sudden dogmatism about 2024 is completely irrational.

  • You are going to extreme lengths to embarrass yourself with this utterly weird insecurity about your choice to stick to 2020 and not move to 2024 🤣.. I mean, that's great that you are sticking to 2020

I had not considered the likelihood of 2024 hoovering up 2020's server space and bandwidth.

Is that a fact or just wild speculation right now? if it is true then thats an absolute disgrace.

Pure guess. It makes sense to factor in a reduction in 2020 demand and allocate the same space to 2024.

I mean, that's great that you are sticking to 2020 (as am I for now), and you declared you are not moving to 2024 from the get go, but why the need to keep spamming all the 2024 threads like this?

Well this place has had 'spam' then about 2024 for months now, people yelping at how much better it will be and light years ahead of 2020. Its just simply not, it is the same game, i said it then and I've been proved right, but worse than that its worse as its not working for huge swathes of people and they are now realising they have been played.

It's not an insecurity, I've put 800 hours in 2020 and I'm mega secure its paid me back thousand fold in enjoyment... If I'd of purchased 2024 day one I'd be not felling so secure.

In any case, it is partly a fact that I am feeling very bitterly at the moment ( I am currently in a flight in MSFS 2020 ) the sim is now simply resetting the bandwidth and not even with a message..

cheers ☺️

MSFS = 612k posts

X-Plane = 136k posts

P3D = 397k posts

It's time for a rethink on this stance as the MSFS forums will continue to grow much larger.

Totally agree...👍

But my first impression is underwhelming, why they have changed the default controls is a mistery to me, even more why there is no option to import the MSFS2020 controls, sensitivities and assignments...

That too was my first impression as I stated yesterday in another post.  Self inflicted error on Asobo’s part I believe, nor do I like it or the new UI.

Is it because people just purchased the same game with a 24 on it... having said that i'd be happy to see 2024 split off to another section.

I am just thankful that they came out with a new Sim, rather than it being a forced update to 2020, which would have been a disaster.

It's seems working good now, I'm on the B737max and works well, no navigraph help just planning with the EFB LIRF/EDDF. Not bad for a default aircraft, also the light is better, better weather and landscapes, no more CPU spikes, temps are around 65°C now.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

That is called delusion. No way is it vastly better than 2020, it is 2020 why do people try to convince themselves otherwise?

Because their experience probably is that it looks and feels better compared to MSFS2020? It's subjective. We are by now well aware that you think oherwise as you have posted multiple times in multiple threads already. It seems you focus a lot on all the negative input.

...and you keep posting the same negative nonsense.  I have made one flight so far and am VERY pleased with the purchase, because I realise day one isn't going to be Groundhog Day.

I have a question after several short flights yesterday evening.  Is there a way to start in the cockpit like in 2020, and not outside in 'walk around' mode?  For testing purposes I tried loading the Carenado 182RG and A380, and while they appeared to load, I could never get in the cockpit.

Thank you gents.

EDIT:  never mind, Shift-C saved the day
