I argued this before release and was hounded out by the resident Chairman of the Asobo Fan Club, now post release I'm still not seeing anything worthy that I haven't seen updated in other games/Sims as an Update or DLC etc. Can you tell us what exactly would have been enough in your opinion to justify a new title? I mean, if improved lighting, clouds, fight physics, ground physics, water physics, soft body physics, tessellation, free charts, walk arounds, 3d vegetation with expanded biomes, new animals, extra planes, balloons, new streaming infrastructure, wake turbulence, missions, careers etc. etc. etc. are collectively still not enough for you to accept a new title, then what on earth is? Cloud Infrastructure as done (and again the obvious main reason why) New Graphics Engine New Physics Engine Advanced SDK that allows other titles (truck, train, racing sims etc) to gain easier access to the "Digital Twin" Then you extend upon the above with the other areas of MSFS24 to warrant a "New Title". Everything you've listed could've been a DLC/Sim Update or whatever. New cars come to racing sims all the time (free & dlc), improved lighting/graphics/ui/physics/career modes/events etc etc, it's nothing new, seems like people here are stuck in a Flight Simulation bubble and don't actually realise how many games & other simulations go through drastic changes without the need of a new title. No matter what, with the new 2024 flight models developers can create even more accurate aircraft (unless they use their own flight model outside the sim, like A2A). And what MarcG said, a lot has changed under the hood which justifies a new version; changes could not be implemented as an update as I understand. Well the sim game Assetto Corsa someone took that game which is nearly 10 years old and modded whole new weather system which added both 24 hour and weather cycle including rain which was never in the original game. Whole new lighting systems, new physics implementation etc etc. It is possible if the game is totally modderble, because there are some clever people out there in game land. So many games over the years have been improved and had lives way beyond. As for actual devs who do this, look at Euro and American truck sims, just stuck with the game and improving it all the time. Its a choice ASOBO have made and i don't knock them for it, but just call it what it is. Ryzen 5 3600 / RTX 2070 8GB / 2x8 RAM/
November 24, 20241 yr I see your point. Assetto Corsa is a good example how long a game can last with mods. Looking forward to AS Evo though! Regarding MSFS I think after four years there's nothing wrong with releasing a new version. Money has to keep coming in, although they could also have charged for significant updates. In the old days a new flightsim version came out every two years. And it can even be worse, looking how EA handles things with new 'upgraded' sports games every year... November 24, 20241 yr I live in Western Canada, and FS2024 is less realistic than 2020. There are way too many trees. The graphics are otherwise almost the same; whilst impressive for a simulator, they are not close to real life. There is a simulated building where I live, but the structures are unrealistic. It may be better in the more populated areas, but frankly, the graphics in 2024 are no improvement and are even worse than in 2020.
November 24, 20241 yr These people who are making videos need to do a default setting split screen but without titling which sim is which. Let our own eyes decide. A. On a sidenote, a comparison of the sounds in both sims would be nice as well. In this case MSFS 2020 wins hands down; I still have no engine sounds in 2024 😒 Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024

November 24, 20241 yr I've been messing with graphics settings most of today and the servers being up the creek are still causing issues, terrain not loading in properly, liveries half loading, PG looking awful etc. (1gb broadband so not issues my end before anyone says it). Certainly may serve to wait until they're properly up and running before bothering with further tweaking, so far though when flying Low & Slow it's no better than MSFS2020, ground level is better, lighting is better (actually gorgeous, see below!) November 24, 20241 yr For anyone wanting to do comparisons... did you know you can actually run both sims side by side? It's crazy, didn't even thought it might work, they apparently share the hardware well, both running at 40fps, while a single one usually runs at 70fps.
