Tuesday is Patchday for MS, so no surprise if it is coming today.

They said Tuesday or Thursday last week.

  • Please just continue to ask here for anything MSFS related. Most of us are more than happy to help.

  • In half the time it took you to type out this reply, you could have just…answered the question. These are totally unnecessary and pedantic comments.

  • You are expected to study all the literature and previous threads, especially if you have kids and a full time job, before having the temerity to post a very innocent question in the two different sim

Someone should put a link to this thread in the official forums.

It's okay my friend, we're all one big family here.

Albeit somewhat dysfunctional at times.

These threads are usually 10 pages of "why isn't the patch released right now?!?!?  We need a patch now!"

Followed by:

"The patch broke everything, why did they release it".

Sorry - spoiler alert for those that are new here.

Shame one has to navigate through all the grouchiness to get to the content. It's not really worth the effort. I know I won't change anything but it really hacks me off to wade through all the bad tempered rudeness this Forum seems to be renowned for.

See, you've got me doing it now!!!!!

Its the FS2020 story all over again ! 🤣

Saw this over on the official forum: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/2nd-dec-patch-release-v-1-1-10-0/679314/265

Last post suggests it'll be out later today.

The bottom line is we don't know when the update will drop.  We usualy find out a few hours before (someone just posted something about hinting it drops today).  They don't announce a schedule for these things.  Tuesdays are obviously common days, but not a guarantee.  Things can get delayed or drop on Thursdays.  Today is a good bet, but who knows?

My guess (just a guess) is that they don't want to give an exact time to keep everyone from hitting the servers all at once.

As a lifelong educator, I am a big proponent of enabling folks with the knowledge to find answers on their own.

However, there is a world of difference between answering a question with "it's in the book, look it up", when the book is 600 pages long, and answering with "it's in the book, on the table in page 324. Next time you need to look something up in the table, now you know!".  Now THAT is helpful.

Simply giving us the link to the forum was the equivalent of the first answer, not the second.

The second truly helpful answer SHOULD have been this:

It looks like the date might be December 10th or 12th, based on the Development Update Blog Post.

Becoming familiar with reading the official announcements from the MSFS team is really useful. You can find the forum for those here:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/official/news-and-announcements/141

However, it is not immediately obvious where this information is. Typically, patch announcements are located in the Developer Update Blog posts. Click through the thread that is usually there on the forum for those, and then click through again on the top post to get to the development blog post itself (currently: this one)

You should be able to read and find mention of when a patch should be coming out.

So, yes, this takes a bit more effort on your part to generate a "helpful answer", but that is the price you pay if you want to truly be helpful and teach somebody how to find the answers on their own. Simply telling them "it's in the book" is not the kind of helpful answer you think it is.

I hope that you do not take offense to my demonstrating to you how to formulate a properly helpful answer in the same way that you wanted to instruct somebody else on how to find the information themselves. Now you know how to produce helpful answers in the future!
