MSFS 2024 is a "...pretty..." mess

Featured Replies

Cannot seem to find an aircraft that is flyable in IFR conditions

If the AP will not turn on, it misses the FLC anyway.

Been using C90 but King 350i is half baked

EFB never once did it get the full FP into the aircraft regardless of source

Such a pretty terrain simulator. But a messy quality control, a mess nothing less

Were they all getting drunk at happy hour and leaving everything UNFINISHED?

I like the visuals, not sure if it's great leap from 2020 but my biggest reservation is the streaming and doing a 1 hour flight in the Fenix only to find the runway is blurry or sometimes even not there at all.

I'm kind of in a waiting pattern for now with 2024 to see what comes next.

Try 3rd party aircraft like Inbuild A300, Fenix 319-321, or JF RJ. Right away MSFS2024 stand as superior. Absolutely love it.

I enjoy every flight in 2024 more than any flights in 2020. I fly GA under VFR. I don't like sitting in an airliner in real life and taking a trip. I do like being a passenger in a small plane, it's wonderful! I enjoy it more in a sim too.

They knew how broken it was but released it anyways. No respect.

The PC12 NGX is probably the most stable General Aviation IFR platform right now.  Once the PC24 right half of the cockpit is fixed it would likely take the PC12's place - it's a sweet plane.... (EDIT:  Actually I think the C90 GTX is reasonable too!)  ANYWAY.... PC 12 Switches work and it can be started from cold and dark.  The flight model is reasonable (based on what I've read from a few PC12 guys) too.  The sounds are okay at best but maybe a sound pack will come from someone else later.

Things that are broken in it:  the autopilot will not work when using VOR or LOC as nav source.  It will work when using the FMS though.  Sometimes when loading an instrument approach, the FMS will accidentally skip the IAF and route you to the FAF.  This is a WT bug that is known afaik.

I wish someone would do a cold and dark tutorial - and what we really need is a Honeywell Epic 2 tutorial.  A lot of people are so used to the Garmins in 2020, people are unsure of how to use this.  The Epic 2 is actually really cool imo.  I'm not great at tutorials but after playing around with all the settings I've found it to be quite powerful.  It allows for VNAV, approaches with vertical guidance (like LPV mins), it displays weather, runway and frequency information (not even talking about the EFB - just the avionics themselves).  I find the Epic 2 to be elegant!

edit again:  Found at least someone entering a flight plan in the Honeywell - hopefully it will help someone:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaL9Ft9sVY8&ab_channel=TopofDescent

edit a 3rd time:  Unfortunately it does NOT seem to be starting for me from cold and dark.  I though I had done it previously but in the real one you just turn on the STBY BUS and the lower display lights up (After the red x at first).  In this version you need both batteries and what seems like the engine running and the AV1 and 2 switches before anything lights up.

It's obviously nowhere near a finished /complete project. In its favor there are many who don't care as they find enough in there to justify paying for it. Million dollar question is if they can fix it fast enough to not lose the customers who do care. It really should been early access at release. One day, maybe, we'll know from insiders the full story.

It still is "prettier"

I just got in to a PC12 and the darkened PDF has like 2000 filthy fingers smudges like maybe even from space?

NO self respecting RT or even Sim pilot would pass that by without trying to clean it?

Well at least they got a touchscreen effect in there

But messy or what

Same. Flying helicopter and VFR exclusively in MSFS 2024, while keeping MSFS 2020 for longer flights. MSFS 2024 is still half baked in some aspects to say the least.

They are not Germans but French. So - in a bottle of wine.

It's so quiet now. They have left for the Christmas vacations probably.

2024 is still a bit of a mess PG wise compared to 2020. A lot of areas aren't close to 2020 and look blobbed with dirt mounds and such. A good example is to fly out of KPOC in 2020 then switch to 2024. Wow!

Of course they have as all the word not allowed flack they have received (mostly inflicted on their own part) with the release of 2024 I would go on vacation too. They never forced anyone to jump on the FS2024 bandwagon so early though that is on the user as I feel no pity for them. Don't blame MS/Asobo blame yourselves for believing the hype.
