Last I check 2020 had a 10 yr commitment and it was great right up until 2024 was released then overnight it was no different than FS9 according to some here... Since 2024 was released FSLabs and 777 have continued to release for 2020 and even Fenix is applying their updates to both 2020 and 2024. I mean talk about what have you done for me lately LOL Some people value stability over progress. It’s not an invalid viewpoint, but it’s not one I share. give me chaos and progress, one doesn’t come without the other. 2020 is still on my machine, but I haven’t started it since 2024 launch and I don’t expect to. The only sim I ever went “back” to was fs9 for the first year of fsx, but that was because fsx was truly awful until systems caught up with it. 2024 though, runs better on my modest rig than 2020 does, so…

Part of the depth of disappointment resides outside of the sim world. Politics...... Just having been severely let down by the Nov elections, I was looking forward to a lift me up with the advent of the fantastic msfs2024 release event that same dreary month of November. Turned out a reinforcement of the sad fact that November is not July. But no, like everything, it went south, immediately. So I was already depressed about things when the sim was released the way it was, sending me deeper into a dumb messy world. So it just gets piled higher and deeper making us all PhDs in desperation. More akin to I bought a V8 but they only let me use 6 cylinders and though they promised me I could take the seats and tires from my old car to the new one they've locked them behind a door I don't have access to and so I can drive but only with their fold up aluminum seats and no tires... But outside of those small details it's a great car!!! It's like people telling everyone how great their cybertruck is when the frame splits in half from a pothole. Minor details!! They hadn't even done compatibility testing when they released it then had to disable access to people's prior purchases when console users can "ONLY" purchase via Marketplace. Great, this doesn't impact PC users but it does impact the largest market which is also probably the market that drove it's release... That's a sports car limping along on half it's cylinders or sold globally but only available to drive in the US... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

December 18, 20241 yr The biggest disappointment for me at this point is not being able to use my marketplace airports - until that happens I really dont see the need to use 2024 at this time. I also find on my pc the visuals aren't as good at this point but that might be more of tuning thing (although I hate that process and was hoping I wouldn't have to do that). All that being said this is the first time I really havent made the jump into the new version like all of my previous times. In all of my previous iterations of new versions I have made the jump pretty quickly and stopped using the old version within a week of release. 2020 to me at this point is good enough that I dont really feel the need right now - hopefully after a few more patches 2024 will get that way (which I know will happen at some point). Part of this stems from the fact that I dont want to spend my time tweaking and setting things up - I want to fly - I guess I just dont have the patience for that stuff anymore.

It defies logic that there are people blaming consumers for purchasing a product that was so heavily promoted by MS with 'pretty' videos. Credit to @MarcG for predicting what was about to happen. Now we know the real reason why there were no review copies before launch. MSFS 2024 is certainly usable and enjoyable, but stable - far from it with many issues. I do hate being right in this instance, something not worth gloating about at all. Their approach is indeed quite different compared to how Asobo and MS handled things in the build up to the MSFS 2024 release. We know what we will get for sure. With MSFS 2024 I didn't receive the simulator I was hoping for... Even though Kunos have lost a couple of their main guys in recent years, they still have the know how in how to release a top quality product with ACEvo, in fact I'd say most sim racing devs are of that kind of breed, something MS/Asobo should look up too. You should see the list of problems with 2024. Go check it out for yourself. Why are you looking at their Discord page since you have no knowledge nor any interest in MSFS 2024?

Well I looked at their Discord Page-Community Forum and there are two sims listed with users questions and probolems. One is for MS 2020, which is pretty empty, the other is for MS 2024 with a long list of issues. Pretty hard not to notice. Does that answer your question? By the way, the page says that there is no support for the 2024 Fenix, because it is "experimental"....🤣 Edited December 18, 20241 yr by Bobsk8
December 18, 20241 yr Anyone claiming 2020 is a "dead end" or full of bugs is just spouting pretentious nonsense. Objectively, I'm finding it hard to identify any bugs that make 2020 unusable, especially in the last 6 months. We have in our hands, 2 incredibly advanced and very enjoyable simulators. One just happens to be more stable (in general) than the other at the moment. I personally believe that the "ranting" is at a level that could demotivate MS to fund future updates. MS top brass could look at the negative hyperbole and say, "why are we funding that"? That would not only be bad for a new version in the future but also for MSFS 2020.
