The vast majority of addons that I have just blindly copied over from 2020 to 2024 have worked great. The vast majority of addons for 2020 are scenery or relatively simple and/or programmed via the guidelines of the original SDK. Complex Airplanes haven't been so lucky, but I'd venture a guess to say the Airplane devs often go well outside the lines of any SDK when doing their thing, for mostly valid performance reasons. There's cost associated there, as I'd assume toeing the line more would alleviate the redevelopment cycles of constantly having to update your products for the next new thing, but cynically speaking, there's also a potential revenue source every time for some devs... It would have been nice to have not had to undergo this sort of thing again, because I'm getting tired of constantly waiting for everything. It IS early days though. IF in the next few months we get the bulk of those few addons we're mostly needing, I'm sure a lot of tunes will be changing.

What about those scenery addons ? I have all 3 ORBX great britain region south/central/north as I am flying a lot around UK. Do I need those to copy them to MSFS2024 or do you think that the basic MSFS2024 scenery is OK/better than from those addons ?
December 20, 20241 yr Just thought I'd put this here as I found it earlier looking for actual news and didn't want to start yet another 2024 thread: https://flyawaysimulation.com/news/4969/ The comments at the bottom stop at Feb 2024 but make very interesting reading in retrospect. December 20, 20241 yr Sim is nowhere near perfect yet and they've got a ways to go, but I think we've hit the tipping point where the discourse about how allegedly "broken" and "a mess" the sim is has outpaced how broken and messy it ACTUALLY is. I've been using it since release. 90% of the time, it's fine for free flight. Career has some frequent jank to work out that I think is a function of how it generates "missions", but just getting in and flying has been fine for me for the aircraft I use. I recognize I can't speak for the experience of everyone, but I'm also not using it in a way that would be outside a pretty typical use scenario.

I completely agree with you! I accept some have issues, me included, but the sim is very useable in its current state. And people who have no desire to ever move to FS24 seem to have strong opinions about the state it is in.

I have yet to get into the A2A Comanche in '24 but so far I have been working thru Flysimware aircraft. Last night I completed a KSUS-->KCGI hop in the C414 (GNS530) and it went well. I had no issues with the ENTER button not working on the GNS530 (someone reported that issue, and I can't replicate it so far). Second week, and my first 2 or 3 times in MSFS2024? It was pretty bad, but since then, much better. I'm a slow adopter and as I work my way to port over different airplanes and scenery, maybe I'll have a different view, but as of now everything I've tried has worked, except for things like landing lights on a few aircraft. I don't know if the latter is a sim issue or an airplane-specific issue, but it's been reported by me. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

I did use some heading mode after takeoff, to vector myself toward the path. I'd say I was within about 10 degrees when I switched to NAV and it caught the track. I will do some more 414 flights this weekend, with more complex routings and we'll see what happens. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
