  • Same here. Used to be seconds before 2024 was released.

  • I recall that this was a complaint in the early days of MSFS20 that Asobo addressed in one of their updates which did, in fact, cure it.  It would seem to be back; a punishment to the '2024' heretics.

  • They've got top men on it. Top. Men.

Yep, almost 2 minutes here. Just the "checking for updates" part...

Me too.

I've timed it and it's still hard to believe that it's taking that long to check for updates.

They should remove the checking for updates at startup and instead have a notification in-game when an update is released.

Why would you need to check for updates every single time you start the sim?! Just stupid.

On my system, 2020 checking for updates never takes over a minute. I just timed it now, 49 seconds.

Meanwhile, 2024 boots up over twice as fast as 2020. When I click on the Fly icon from the map page, the flight loads at least 4 times faster than 2020. Quick and snappy load times has been the glory of 2024 for me from day 1.

I only fly 2020 for tests. As a GA flyer, I see no downside to 2024 except a few things don't work on some of the planes, they aren't fully 2024 compatible. I have the aviators edition, bought at a steep discount bargain from CDKeys.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

How it's that possible?

For me, it been pretty fast, but surely not three seconds. Killing the internet while it’s checking for updates sometimes works. This issue of “checking for updates” is just the introduction of what’s to come.

It isn't.

Checking for updates has always taken some time, but 2 minutes is just ridiculous.  It's highly unlikely that we will get a fix anytime soon since they are too busy fixing a broken 2024 release.

Yes, it will be a while. Just removing planes from top of buildings or repairing the issue of planes landing without their landing gears deployed, that alone could take months. No love for 2020.

Zero (0) mods installed = 3minutes 40seconds to load 🙄

Up to 4 min now. what a joke...
