Upcoming soundpack for PMDG lineup

Featured Replies

Hmm, I must be missing something… I’m with Bob on this. I watched the video and 99% of the sounds were from inside the cabin! I still have not seen anything that shows me the sounds on touchdown from inside the cockpit. I did see one, not sure where, but I couldn’t hear anything. If someone has a link showing this I’d be grateful.

Edit: just found a couple of videos on YT, one preview from Boris omits the landing process completely and ends the video in flight! Which seems very curious. I watched another and unless I’m deaf, I could hardly hear any touchdown sound, and the reversers were very quiet, far more than I would expect. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this.

  • Boris’s sounds are on another level. If you close your eyes, you will literally hear no difference between the real thing and his sound package.

I have a free sound ad on for the PMDG from Flightsim.to, and it improves the F/D sounds for the 737.  Since all this Boris sound set affects the cabin sounds, I probably won't bother with it. I am not too good at taking off and landing from the cabin. 😉

The engine sounds on take off are a bit strange (viewed from inside the cabin). The transition to the distinctive sound as the fan blades go supersonic is rather abrupt, and it sounds a bit too distinctive. This could just be me, but I also think that the pitch does not sound quite right at full power.

There are many real 737 pilots here, why not wait for their reviews 🙂 I added it to my wishlist 🙂

Not just you. I am with you on that. I think it's very exaggerated.

Yea, the real world 737 pilots he is using to beta test it are all wrong and you two are correct. 🙄

Okay then let me ask you something. Did you sit in the 737 for 7384 hours over a period of 10 years? Facing the engine on approximately 4 sectors a day? Over 5 days a week? No doubts that the pilots they asked to give their input to make their sound pack did their best to help them but that buzz saw is still unlike any 737 I sat in. The lows and mediums are spot on, only those highs (buzz saw, the thrust reduction and acceleration) is like no 737 at all. Otherwise this pack is very solid, and no need to get very offensive on anyone giving constructive criticism.

This is what I meant. Sounds more like this. Difference being they did not do a derate which is also explained in the video.

The in-sim demonstration of the takeoff sounded quite a bit different, a lot closer to an IAE engine rather than the 737's CFM's. But look everyone to their own.

That does sound a lot more like the Boris soundset, but I still think that the simulated version of the "buzzsaw" kicks in a bit too quick (it is almost instant, instead of rising smoothly from nothing). Maybe I am just too fussy

Atmospheric conditions can do a lot to how sound comes through. Fenix simulated that nicely. As I said in the previous pages, sometimes you can come across a 737 that has weird sounds, including likely old engines, hissing seals, weird noises that no one knows where they come from but to me this engine sound might be under very specific conditions and maybe on some aircraft...

Here is a video that was just posted.

I'm no expert and i have no 737 official real flight hours to throw around but i will definitely picking this up the INSTANT it drops. From the videos shown i am wildly guessing if its not 100% accurate in all phases of flight it is still in the high 90% range and that's good enough for me.

Congrats to Boris for the work put in to enhance the PMDG 737.. Hoping there will be a soundpack for the 77W and 77F coming shortly after as they are in DIRE NEED of a soundpack upgrade.

great news about the new Boris sounds. My questions:
will they be compatible with the next updates of the 737 pmdg?
if I want to go back to the original sounds will I create some problem or is everything ok?

I would really like to use them

Greetings to all
