One passenger even managed to livestream whilst strapped in seat and inverted 🙄

 

I am not sure how one flips a CRJ900... Glad everyone survived. This is just not something that I have seen happening before.

snowbanks on the side of the runway may have contributed, once the main landing gear gets caught up in a snow bank that creates a lot of resistance. Snow can also soften the impact but not good when landing gear gets caught up into it

Toronto has just had massive back to back snowstorms so those snow banks were very fresh and big when this happened,  they usually remove them but it’s been reported that was going to take about 3 weeks to dig out from these recent storms

 

He said it was a very heavy landing and then they slid sideways and turned over. He was hanging from his seat upside down. 

 

Jeez, very lucky escape!

A very serious matter, however I found it hilarious they found a pilot to interview , dressed in full uniform sat on a (simulator) flight deck, complete with headphones. It looked like something out of airplane.

That landing almost looked like the pilots were unaware that they were that close to the ground. Is there any indication of engine failure on final approach?

Great that all the passengers assisted each other, didn't just think about themselves.

Loss of visibility, perhaps, at the last second? 

I suspect questions will be asked about the experience levels of the crew in these regional operations, hopefully it’s not a factor. Although a non fatal accident like this may serve as wake up call, things may have improved somewhat in recent years I’ve not been following developments, but it certainly used to be an issue, along with fatigue.

They may have been experiencing whiteout conditions so they could not make out their altitude visually and misjudged their flare, snow was blowing across the runway at the time. Lots of information on whiteout conditions, this picture shows how the ground and sky can all blend in

Wow!  I'm glad that no one was killed.
