February 22, 20251 yr I stopped flight simming with MSFS over 10 years ago due to a constant stream of problems with CTDs and various other problems that I simply no longer had time to try and fix. Do I miss flying with MSFS? You bet I do. I am envious of add-ons such as Beyond ATC which I did purchase and use when it first emerged. To see and listen to the videos of what BATC does now is just incredibly awesome and just makes me miss the whole experience even more. I had used every version of MSFS since its inception decades ago including to the wonderful heady years that Tom Allensworth started AVSIM and was still with us. I met Tom in Denver the year that some of us met together to use the United Airlines flight sims. I feel so thankful to have shaken the man's hand and thank him personally for having started AVSIM. And that was what over 20 years ago? I have lost track of time. I continue to lurk every couple of months and read posts and they all make me smile, but I am the nostalgic sort after all. Anyway, I wish AVSIM and the entire MSFS flight simming world nothing but the best. I will continue to lurk and read and enjoy what you all post. Take care everyone! If you ever want to get back into this hobby, just let us know. We will be happy to help. It's the complete package with the full array of compatible planes and utilities but 2024 is already nipping at its heels, and I'm not even on the beta. Already my fav apps work with it in large part. Performance is obviously much better were you to set both sims up as identically as possible vis a vis LOD, but that would obviate even going to 2024 if you did not fully exploit its graphical improvements. And that is because 2020 is currently still an awesome sim. The awestruck gobsmack reactions we all went thru in 2020 is not what I get in 2024 because as has been said it's more evolutionary than revolutionary, and 2020 is still a complete and awesome sim in its own right. And 2024 is def the offspring of it. February 22, 20251 yr Welcome back sir! One difference you will immediately notice is that it is nigh on impossible to start a thread on any subject in this sub-forum without an argument starting about whether 2020 or 2024 is better. It's always ONLY a matter of time! Am interested to know which sim you last used 10 years back as what is commonly called MSFS these days refers to 2020 or 2024. I took a 5 year break myself it was fsx for me. However you do it getting back into simming is worth it if you have the available time. Much has changed and much of it is for the better! I accept it no problem, but for many it is working very nicely indeed. Great news that 2020 needs no more fixes as it is perfect. February 22, 20251 yr Really? Another thread relegated to an MSFS 2020 v MSFS 2024 bash fest? I think that United001 deserves a bit better than that.
