I agree, but I think the silence and the last beta build being pretty lacklustre means we're close to the final release. My prediction is that we'll see it released tomorrow, followed by an announcement about SU3 next week. Edited May 15, 20251 yr by usernamerequired
May 15, 20251 yr Its only semantics but IMO every release of 2020 and 2024 is a beta whether or not they name it that. Its just a matter of degree in how far off centre on the BETA/Full Release scale the team consider it to be, its never a done thing.

In terms of a "Continually Developed Title" they certainly do things very differently from countless titles I've been involved with in the past. The neglect in fixing what they break is a blatant area which does make it seem like we're in an eternal beta, but if there's one thing I've learned since 2020 it's that they don't give two hoots about professional quality control. It's very much a "that'll do get it out" attitude, they are if anything constantly swimming against the tide and then they released the tsunami that is 2024 which pegs them back further.....to the point 2020s SU16 is postponed when if was supposed to be released last year.....further evidence of poor management all round. Still, at least the rocks and pebbles are nice eh 😂 Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

If so, I would've assumed Asobo would have tied off all the loose ends with SU16 and said something to the effect of "This is the final version of 2020. We will continue to support it for the promised 10 year timeline, but our priority now is 2024". I can understand and sympathize with delays in updates, as I'm guilty of it myself, but I would always find some way to update everyone through some kind of official channel.

Opinions could definitely vary on the interpretation of that promise. But that has already been debated ad nauseam, and there are people on both sides of that debate. But if it is indeed true, that 2020 was left unfinalized, with a pending SU16, that has now been indefinitely scrapped, I wouldn't think that is being fair to those of whom prefer to stay with 2020 for a little while longer, with no further announcements. At the very least, they could have tied it off and fixed any easily fixed, sim breaking bugs, if there were any. I'm one of those people that will wait a while for any software to be considered stable before purchasing. I'd rather stay with the stable version until then. I stayed with Windows 10 for over a year before upgrading to 11.
May 15, 20251 yr THE embarassing thing is that we now are 4.5y after release and in the official forums you can find zillions of threads criticising the non-existent or bad communication philosophy of Asobo and yet they learnt absolutely nothing. Stubborn attitude. People want to know what is going on, but they simply dont get it. Why not simply telling us customers why there is such a delay in SU2? Or SU16 for MSFS2020? Still better than no word at all even if the reason might not be taken positive by most... May 15, 20251 yr Every piece of software ever released is a beta whether it's a game or Windows. It is always constantly patched, tweaked and upgraded. MSFS2020 would never be 'finished' and it's now an outdated version of the MSFS platform. You are lucky it still works at all. There is no reason for anyone to continue to develop for it or for Asobo to support it. Having moved wholeheartedly to MSFS2024, I would be disappointed if they wasted any time working on the previous version at the expense of developing this one. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

Yep, I agree about the fact the statements by MSFS can be interpreted in different ways, but I believe I'm right 😁 It would indeed be unfair if the team would decide to leave MSFS unfinalized. I hope I'm right in saying this won't be the case and MSFS will receive updates until 2028. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
