I based that decision on FSL saying it will be brought into MSFS2020,which never happened.

From what I can deduce they’re working on the MSFS version and probably started soon after the last P3D update in November 2023. You require the patience of Jobe with FSL and the life expectancy of Methuselah. 😉

If P3D has about 1% of the hardcore sim market, how many are still even actively using the FSL Concorde? 10, 50, 100? Not much more than that.  As you mentioned, the aircraft is perfectly flyable

They (Fslabs) really sadly tarnished their reputation with the spyware they installed on their Airbus family in Prepar3D. That was one of my reasons not to buy any more products from them for MSFS.

  • I don't think this is a unnecessary post and I definitely do not think the fact that Ray is a moderator makes it more unnecessary (but maybe I am missing some sort of causation). It is a valid point t

It's called EOL, Ray. A sad but very real occurrence in almost every facet of of life. Old tech (and even people) gets forgotten and passed over. It isn't ideal nor pleasant but unfortunately it's how things are. Sometimes also quaintly called "planned obsolescence".
At least you still have a working Concorde, mate.

Then why did they take 4-5 years to build it for P3D? I’m guessing it was a labour of love and they knew deep down it would never make a profit but loved the aircraft enough to release it. So having started it they should finish it.

Remember the lead programmer wrote the code for the Concorde simulator at Brooklands Museum in Surrey.

Yes, and I can workaround the bugs. But given their desire for high quality releases I hope they fix the outstanding issues in the next 12 months.

When you’re 11 miles up over ocean what difference is there between any of the three major simulators? None that I can see.

But my reason for the above post is to draw people’s attention to a ticket being closed without resolution. Why couldn’t they just leave it open? It’s being unnecessarily aggressive.

Thx Ray,

your post was important, for various reasons.

I strongly hope it can raise some good decisions @ FSLabs, and maybe we will be able to see their support for P3D and MSFS be more effective in the future.

A totally unecessary post - especially from a moderator

Why? So a moderator can't talk to the community about a personal experiance?

And cannot bring service failures to people's attention?

I don't consider fixing non-crash bug using an update as part of basic support, it's good to have, but if they don't I won't say it's "non-existent support". The base line is make sure it runs on the system meet the minimal requirement at purchase OR refund.

And that's what for example PMDG's "end of support" of their P3D line really means, until then you can still bother them if the software doesn't install, doesn't run etc etc.... but we all know it's not been updated for years. FSL haven't announced any abandonation though.

Well, FSL once broken that when they update their A32X to not able to run on windows7 anymore, although the old version could still been use (but not able to be downloaded from them).

I kinda still actively flying Concorde in P3Dv5. only once every few month though, the un-disableable  VCS is the biggest complain I have (don't familiar enough to point out other detailed bugs though)

The reason I posted here is because they closed the ticket. If they’d left it open as they should have done I wouldn’t have posted here. Why isn’t there a Pending mode?

It gives me the impression they won’t be fixing any of the many reported issues in Concorde. Bugs that can be serious enough to be annoying without the sim crashing.

Of course they could announce their intentions but there has been nothing for months. It gives me the impression they’re done with Concorde. Perhaps if @MachTwo is reading this he can consider making an announcement on their forum.

History repeats @Ray Proudfoot. They're great developers but sadly they cannot handle the crowd. Even PMDG learned a bit from the P3D days, but FSL just remains the same old company who can't deal with/don't want to deal with people.

What an odd bunch.

But FSL have a good reputation for quality software. It’s the fact that having fixed a few important ones several involving custom routes remain outstanding and the silence on progress for any of their products is deafening.

I always thought towards the end of my p3d days the FSL was the most groundbreaking addons to ever hit the sim. Even if they were plauged with the password.exe (or whatever it was called) scandal.

But like the others have said devs moved to MS2020 where the new money is, and also new ones arrived such as Fenix. (which let us remember wasnt very good on release, you couldnt keep it on the centreline, and then when you complained about it on discord, they just kicked you off) Alas fast forward a few years and the fenix is now finally i think an awesome addon.

Its a shame FSL missed a beat with ms2020, I think they could of knocked the fenix off the top spot had they played their cards right.

Thinking back I suppose they had to wait to see the reaction to a new sim. Then there’s the SDK which is critical for third party aircraft developers. Then add on the complexity of their aircraft including Concorde.

They did fulfil their promise to deliver a 64-bit Concorde which took several years to develop. I’m guessing the team isn’t large so things take time.

Leaving the 2020 beta development in a huff back in 2019 didn't help them either.

Based on what FSL has said about their Airbus series in p3d, I’m not confident there will be additional updates to any of their planes, Concorde included.  I obviously hope I am wrong but they have stated that they’ve moved on from p3d.
