Huddison doesn't like 2024 controller setup.

A spinning circle every time you click on something is worthy of complaint.

I understand the frustration of those having a long delay when trying to change assignments, but it doesn’t happen to everyone. I’m now on SU3 beta,  but in SU2 I never saw any delay or “spinning circle”. Controller assignment changes were instant just as they were in SU1.

No idea why it affects some users but not others.

  • Actually I find the controller setup pretty intuitive. There is room for improvement though. By the way, who the **** is Huddison and why should I care about him?

  • I mapped my controllers without any issues and they still hold and work from aircraft to aircraft like I setup from the beginning. There are some quirks but nothing to post a YT video about. Unless yo

I haven't tried it tbh, I'm still on 2020.

I was just amused that people were jumping on a bandwagon condemning the creator of a video they hadn't watched. I think Huddison makes some interesting and factual content.

I tried Beta 3 for an hour, but had to turn back because it was causing problems, but the selections for the settings was a lot quicker.

So hopefully when SU3 comes out, that will still be true.

I agree that part is very annoying.

The controller setup in 2024 is word not allowed, in my opinion, and no I don't have to buy it to see that.

Thanks Bob.  I always look for unbiased reviews from people who don't own or use the product.  You never fail to come through when it comes to MSFS2024.

All you need to do is look at a video about controller setup in 2024 to see it is terrible,. unless you have the brain of a brick.

I think the point being missed is that many hate the controller setup, it can be fixed and should be fixed so as to be user friendly.

That video is terrible Bob. He hardly knows what he is doing.

He knew how to comment on the spinning circle.😉

I just fired up my MSFS2024 and I see a spinning circle for 1 maybe 2 seconds when I switch between the profiles - so clearly not affecting everyone.

How do you "permanently" apply a particular profile to a particular airplane? Does the system "remember" that the current setup applies to the currently selected airplane or do you have to "save" that relationship somehow? Among some other obvious profile choices I see you have the option to select Apply to airplanes or Set as default. Is the purpose of Apply to airplanes to simply distinguish between airplanes and helicopters? And if you set a profile as Set to default, I assume that's the profile that will be used if no other profile has been assigned to the currently selected airplane -- correct? What is not obvious to me is what is required to assign a specific profile to an aircraft so it will be remembered the next time the sim is started.
Thanks,
Al

Right now, I went back to SU2 from SU3 beta. I had to uninstall 2024 and reinstall 2024, but all my original controller settings move over to my new install. I found the easiest way is to start with setting up a default prop plane. Then set as default for all prop planes of that type. Then once setup then you can customize for props with just mixtures and with mixture and RPM condition levers. My rudder and toe brakes are setup as default across all AC because that will almost never change. Including Helos. Your primary and secondary flight controls elevators, ailerons and trim can get be set as default across all Aircraft including helos. I also set my flight stick twist function as nose wheel steering or tiller control depending on the type of aircraft.

The spinning circle is something that came up after SU1. At the launch of 2024 it wasn't like that.

In anyway I setup most of my planes back in November 2024. All I need now is to assign new AC to existing suitable profiles.

Instead of bashing each other, I'd like to get either a ready "profile" to install control settings, Written simple manual with clear steps or a good video ( I have not seen yet in YT)..

My 2024 is still largely unused after trying in December to get controls to resemble my well working 2020 settings.. No...

Interesting that not everyone is having to endure 30 seconds of spinning circles just to get into the controller menu.

I was fine on SU1, and I’ve changed nothing since installing SU2 except for deleting 2020, perhaps it’s some sort of punishment for doing that?

Yes, I second your idea...some actual documentation by the actual creators would be nice, but that's too much to ask these days.   I figured it out a couple of months ago, because I don't quite (but almost) have bricks for brains, but it wasn't easy, and there are still some questions I have about the entire system, similar to what @ark asks earlier in this thread.

It's actually very powerful in the end, but getting there is not easy.
