So what's the big deal as to whether Toliss has entered the MS2024 market or not? I can't see what's wrong with developing for both sims? Just Flight do for instance.

X-Plane users are understandably scared of developers jumping ship to MSFS and abandoning XP.

The return of the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise has been the best thing to happen to this genre in the past 15 years

Guys.  Why do you continue to rinse, lather and repeat?  Before any more replies read the very first post and ensure your reply is topical.  Almost seems impossible this thread will not end up locked.

  • Goodness me, what does it matter this level of pedantry on something so minuscule? What do you hope to achieve here with this discrepancy?

Disregard.

Actually I don't think that is the case. X-Plane is a solid platform, it's been around for years and it has always been supported by a wide array of developers. No doubt it will remain like this for a long time to come, so nothing to be scared of I think.

Yaaaaawn.

The MSFS market crier/cheap-Jack numero uno is at it again - clickbaiting title with the respective consequences.

Correct. Despite of the longstanding "X-Plane will die" raindances of the (particularly) MSFS-lunatics, XP always grew and will continue to do so.

I'm wondering why all these "XP will die" raindances? Are these people this insecure about their pet and feel so intimidated? Obviously, otherwise they wouldn't feel the need for raindances/voodoo.

Beats me; one could compare them with the 'MS might pull the plug again at sometime' dances coming from the X-Plane camp 😁

Yeah, I’m sure he’ll want to get over there tout de suite to ask why they've started the MSFS is doomed raindance again just an hour ago:

Well ... "the likes of us" 🙂 learn from history/facts. Or is anybody here denying what MS already did in the past? And not only MS, in other big companies, management often decides after some years (for whatever reason*) that they have to align their focus to something else and boom ... Anybody denying? 😁

* Sometimes just for when they get a new CEO, because the new CEO has to show that he does everything better than the old one, and then they turn 180°. History is proof (again).

The developers need to make a living so I doubt XP users being scared will make any difference. If you are referring to GoranM I very much doubt that he cares at all? After all, the more that devs abandon XP the bigger market share there is left for him. I think that the point he was trying to get across is that toliss is not abandoning XP.

Exactly, and the MSFS ecosystem is arguably a pretty good way to make a living as an add-on dev. It's certainly something I'd at least consider if I were on any other flight sim platform. Not sure how this is a controversial statement?

It may be that there is some concern that Toliss will follow a similar path as iniBuilds did.

That didn't turn out well for iB's X-Plane customers at all.

We've no control over it though, and the Toliss team is not the iB team, so we can hope it's as Toliss have asserted, or at least similar to your JF analogy where both communities are served.

In fact Toliss, as I have stated, are not leaving XP. And, as I have learnt, the problem for small developers trying to develop for more than one platform is coping with customer support which would place impossible demands on them.

Microsoft as always is the best thing going in flight simulation these days.

"as ALWAYS"...?

While they have been doing very well for us the last 5 years, their previous actions were certainly not.

Xplane will still be here long after the carpet has been pulled from under the MSFS feet. Slow and steady wins the race.

As for Asobo missing the expo, who cares?

Why else would most of the addons being released NOT be for MSFS? I mean it is an Xbox game, it commands lots of users, therefore there is a lot of money to be made from it. Of course it commands most of the flightsim users. It was a niche hobby, enter Asobo, Gamify it, now it is also a gamers hobby. Gamers spend money. Whether people like that or not.
