TFDI MD-11 updated

You don't need to create any folders, the installer will create them for you. Just copy whatever the updater drops in the old MSFS folders (it will recreate all the required folders) into your new MSFS2024 community, delete the remaining MSFS stuff left behind and you're good to go.

I assume you're referring to updating the product, not a fresh install, as for a fresh install in 2024 (without 2020), you definitely need to create the folders to fool the installer.

$5 USD, the price of an actual cup of coffee at Starbucks in the US. Good on TFDI for a reasonable upgrade fee to MSFS 2024.

  • Hi all, we're happy to announce that the long-awaited Art, FS2024, and Extended Sim update for the MD-11 will release on 12JAN26 at 1600 GMT. We'll be here in Discord to chat and address anything

Well, $5 here is closer to the price of two coffees😝 After that, only three planes left before I can remove MSFS2020, but all of them are default.

I notice a few stated they have it in 2024. Have you had any issues such as freezing or WASM crashes?

Not for me.  Not definitive but I’ve had it in 2024 for more than a month or two and always in beta.  YMMV. TANSTAAFL

How do you guys install MD-11 to 2024 without 2020? My installer says can't find  MSFS2020 location and there is no way to point installation to 2024 folder!

Yes but you can't update it.

Isn't it easier to just full-reinstall the plane instead of a whole other sim...?

Steps listed on page 1.

Just installed at 2020 but cannot find any documentation or manual, where are there located ?

Has anyone been able to get the landing lights to work? I just drug it over from 2020, the two folders.

Thank you for this!
The folder should be called LocalCache (not Local Cache). Otherwise the Installer will not work.

Kind regards,
Andre

So I tried it in FS24.

Not sure if they have revised the flying characteristics in recent patches (I haven't done my homework)

But it flies just fine now in manual flight, imho.

Did a few laps in the pattern and it was heavy, but controllable. I haven't flown this bird in a couple of months, but landing it felt "natural", which was a stark contrast to how it was upon initial release. Back then it was not in harmony in roll, and LSAS made it terrible in pitch.

Not so much now. Much improved across the board. Still carries a hefty price tag, though.

Thanks for catching that. I can't edit my response anymore so hopefully others read the full thread.

You can right click on the installer and set the install location 😇

UPDATE:

Oh you mean inside the TFDI installer! Got it just selected inside Community 2024. Will report back. Yep works fine. When people talk about WASM crashes, is that when click spots quit working. I have had a couple of times where the landing light switch works but then most of switches on the overhead stop as well?

What do you mean right click and set install location? When I right click all I get are standard options..Run as Admin etc.?
