Just tested it. Looks perfect. Have to test with cars off to see if perf improves. Bummer, the international terminal has no inside modeling. Went there many times in real life.

One thing they can do is just release it on marketplace. I hate marketplace but getting sceneries from there isn’t the WORST in the world. They’ll have their precious encryption without the need to lo

I have reduced the file for a lot of textures without compromise the visual in this performance update that is coming very soon. For sure will help. Regards, Matteo

They just lost me forever. Orbx can now go pound sand. I would have paid $100 for this but now they’ve lost me as a customer.

To be fair, those "ideal" settings for a "good PC" look pretty high. I am so tempted to buy this airport, if for no other reason than to see just how well it performs on my PC. I see others struggle at certain airports with systems that have at least twice as much VRAM as I have, and I suspect that it has more to do with photogrammetry than anything else. With PG disabled, I already have a significant saving on power requirements compared to (based on accurate statistical data wink) 75% of the player base.

I have a feeling that most customers took the time to watch YT videos that showed the content creators walking around the airport or using a drone to check out the buildings and all the clutter around the airport.

I normally fly to the airport, with BATC, AI enabled, land, and park at the GA Ramp.

The next day, start at the GA ramp, with BATC, AI traffic enabled, taxi to the runway, take off, and focus on the flight.

So, I really don't need all that clutter or internal modeling.

Once I've done a few patterns around the airport and checked the looks & performance from the air, I know whether it's a keeper or another airport I'll never visit again.

I only now buy airports that are performance friendly and look great day or night. But, most importantly, am I going to visit this airport more than once? At $30, it better meet that standard or else I just stick with default.

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday flying around in the Hughes 500 helicopter and then doing a lot of touch and go ILS approaches in the H-Jet. First, the detail is amazing, I saw everything exactly as it is in real life as I've worked all over that place. I have a new Jetline PC with a 5080. I was getting FPS between 70 and 134. Some slight stutters on final but in my opinion it's definitely worth it. PG always on, I like PG.

I look at it this way, this is only the first iteration, I'll bet Matteo wanted to get this out there and he'll improve it soon. I check Orbx every time before I make flights and invariably there are updates to one or two and I don't think this will be an exception.

I did turn off two of the selections in the Orbx control panel and I lowered traffic from Ultra to High. I also use Auto FPS.

Overall I'm quite satisfied with it.

Back in the day when I used to create levels/maps for First Person Shooters, there were ways of "hiding" areas by adding in invisible walls or zones which prevented the GPU from "seeing/reading" models/textures/whatever in those areas. That way you could create multiple highly detailed areas without big hits on performance, which was vital when creating Deathmatch maps and such.

So as a question (which I think I may of asked once before but forgot the answer), is there nothing like this in the SDK when creating Airports? So that those Terminals buildings where you cannot see from the outside, don't need to render their models/textures? Or is it a case of "build everything and the GPU sees everything"?

Because if it's the latter, then that's a disappointment considering the tech/methods I described above have been around for 30+ years....

Personally, I do not consider it to be one of the "keystones" of MSFS 2024. It has too many flaws. I much prefer the "clean" look of autogen only scenery. I get that some city skylines may not look as convincing with PG off, but frankly I have not experienced all that much of a problem in the locations where I fly. I have VFR Landmarks packages for London (which more than satisfies me), Dublin, Amsterdam, and Athens. However, I do not have any packages at all for cities like Brussels, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Nice, Toulouse, Genoa, Zurich, Geneva, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow.........the list goes on and on.......and not once have I looked down and thought "that is rubbish". At the height that I pass over them when on final approach, I am more than happy with how they look........and I am not the only person who thinks so.

With respect to Atlanta, has anyone here tested this with PG off? I would be interested to know if there are any serious problems. I have not visited a single payware airport to date that is unusable with PG off, although one or two have some minor issues.

chris, this is the benefit of using xp12 and the google maps tool, aep and sim heaven. I prefer it over ms24 any day of the week, only issue is the lack of payware airports. anyways back to KATL

I may have missed whether this was going to be available for 2020 buried in the last 13 pages! Anyone know whats happening there?

ATL looked fun last night on Vatsim, one approach controller and about 50 flights! 😅

Hello, i am the developer of Orbx-Katl, because i have heard some of you are experiencing some VRAM issue, i am working over an update specifically made to address this issue. The update should be ready very soon.

Good video showing the differences. I would have like to seen ImagineSim Atlanta v2 added to the comparison.

do you think it might be anything to do with the size of the texture files being 21.3 MB (22,370,272 bytes) each with the taxi signs PNG being 85.3 MB (89,479,168 bytes) ?

this is the same as what happened to ORBX YBBN which is what made it a stuttering mess

Thank you buddy ! I turned off all of the options in the control panel and removed Ai and that helped a bit.

same as taking all the options out, then you can better take the default KTAL and save 32 dollars....... on the other end, if it is your home airport I can understand.
