This topic has never really come up here?  Doesn't seem to interest anyone.  😘

Since you have MSFS 2020, it doesn't hurt to stay on it. For people that don't have either, I strongly recommend MSFS 2024 because there are some planes now that are becoming MSFS 2024 exclusive only. The iniBuilds A330 and A340 are MSFS 2024 only, and so is the A2A Aerostar.

Going forward, if more planes become MSFS 2024 exclusive only, it's more or an incentive to own MSFS 2024. But since you own MSFS 2020 already, it's not as big of a problem for you.

Are you on the SU3 beta? Only the beta had an update. People not in the beta shouldn't have received an update. If you are having all these problems, and you are on the SU3 beta, you should just stay out of the beta.

No, not for me.  I'm on SU2 still.  I have had none of the problems you mentioned running '24 for 8 months.

No, and I am not using many other programs or mods wjile running it, mainly Navigraph. Come to think of it, the one thing that has changed lately is that I started using FSUIPC again (not for hardware mapping). It seems to work just fine, but maybe I should check what happens if I keep it closed.

Thanks to all for your replies, very usefule for me to know that there has not been an update.

2024 changed 3 times today for me forcing back to 2020. And I scratch my head after being back in 2020 what am I doing with 2024. Ran a few flight in 2020 and did not say any four letter words. Then for the hell of it went back to 2024 and it running blazingly fast and smooth. I have no idea really. Just frustrating as hell. Not on either beta gave up on that. There is a something going on.... My frames went from 35-40 to 80 no change in settings...FACT

Back to 2020, I am done. 3 CTD and 1 freeeeeeeze.

2020 still.

2024 is just is so unreliable and I don't think it looks better than 2020 imo.

For me, MSFS + FSLTL at the moment provides a much better experience both in terms of realism, graphics and immersion.

What I suggest you is: invest 1 USD to try FS2024 for a month with the Game Pass and judge for yourself.

To be honest I think MS2024 is more Overrated than anything else. Sure it looks like a small more detail and flight model better to its predecessor (2020) but not that much for me to make the switch just yet. Plus stable issues for many users on the official forums. I will probably make the switch by SU4.

I will also say I do not have much time in MSFS to fly so I do not want to waste my time with problems with new sim and I need a system upgrade anyways.

The diversity of the answers, all of which are personal preferences and personal
experiences should tell you that what you need to do is make your own mind up,
just like all the contributors to your topic have.

currently trying out MSFS 2024 because i got Gamepass for one month, and omg what a word not allowed mess this is 😮

Still constantly stuck at loading screen, tried everything VPN, DNS, Rolling Cache and so on. Nothing helps. Edit: The Problem is not the loading to the Menu its the loading of the missions and loading Into airports in free flight. Stuck there almost every second loading:(

Carreer complete mess, getting bad repuatation for landing on the right Runway, getting bad points for entering taxiway in the middle of the runway.... getting no more missions created. This is soooo bad

The 1 week i have seen enough to go back to 2020, even the graphics doesn't seem to be so much better, the only things i liked where the clouds are less grainy and the performance was good not even a single stutter or lag while panning the view. But on the other hand 2020 with autofps is also getting very smooth

Seems that 2020 is still where it's at, and 2024 might have promise in a year or two. Thanks for sharing your views on the two sims, everyone, that's been helpful.

i7-10700K; RTX 2070 Super; 16GB; P3Dv4.5HF3 & MSFS2020.

FS 2024 brings additional features to the simulation, by default.

OFC most can be replaced with payware offers, and some users find them not to the level of products they use with FS 2020, but in my case, default rules, and for the time I have these days to dedicate to being seated in from of my flightsim rig, I would go "full default only" if it wasn't for the fact that I couldn't resist hitting the "BUY" button 🙂 for a few airliners and a couple of gliders (well, the GotFriends gliders were more than worth the purchase...).

ATC and AI Traffic are two examples of default features which got better in FS 2024, and are now the ones I use, even if I still have FSHUD and BATC.

Weather (default) does it's job very acceptably too, although both ASFS and RealTurb can always be added, or some custom weather presets that I use for soaring and are free from "flightsim.to". Overall it got better than FS 2020 too.

Aerodynamics are a very important for me aspect of the flight simulation and yet another that got attention from ASOBO in FS 2024, from some aspects of ground physics to the aerodynamics of flight, with additional aspects of wing, fuselage and other structures that can either or both generate lift or drag. This is yet another aspect that at least for me makes FS 2024 a better choice than FS 2020.

Last, although arguable, the streaming (with caching) facet of FS 2024, which I initially criticized, is actually an approach I understand and support these days, even though I have PG disabled.

So, overall, if asked, I have no doubt recommending FS 2024 over FS 2020 🙂

In my opinion, MSFS 2024 is superior to MSFS 2020. It has ...

  • Better lighting
  • Better physics
  • Better cloud depiction
  • Seasons
  • Better textures
  • Walk-around-mode

What I however, really dislike about MSFS 2024 is the UI and all the unnecessary animations. The 'zoom-out' when going to the menu; Why?? It's just unnecessary. The control setup in MSFS 2024 i atrociously bad in my opinion, compared to MSFS 2020. It's slow and I have really NO idea what they've done with it, to mess it up so bad. It's my hope that they'll improve/change this in the future...

Coming back to MSFS after a few years immersed in DCS. I saw the Fenix BFU being advertised and am really tempted to buy it and get back into long range IFR commercial simming again but I see that MSFS2020 and 2024 are still running side by side.

Is this like the old days when everyone ran different versions of P3D alongside each other because some addons were only available for certain versions? Or have things changed up a bit?

I still have MSFS2020 installed but I can't tell whether MSFS2024 is worth it or not. It appears that most or all addons have been developed to be fully compatible with both sims so... what's the advantages and disadvantages?

I'd say enjoy 2020 and give 2024 a try post SU4, in my opinion 2024 is currently a mess in many areas and still requires a lot of work from Asobo to put it right.
