Their loss 😉

Question of topic how is that 9800x3d performance in MSFS 2024 (raw FPS) Since I'm running also 2K. Debating if I go for the 9800x3D or 9950x3D reading and watching but unfortunately a lot nonsense benchmarks/reviews at 1080P. and we have soon a dual 3D v Cache CPU I believe

Yes, but does this solve the "AI plane landing gear going missing beyond 50 metres" problem that exists in MSFS 2020? Without a resolution for that, it is still not fit for purpose

I can't speak for others, but I don't have the problem of AI planes landing gear disappearing at any distance. I'm running SU3 latest Beta and all looks great to me.

Is it beta testers sense frame rate might increase some with SU3 over SU2?  I've suffered significant frame rate drop, maybe 15% or so about the same time that I began noticing how much less VRAM is in use now compared to a few months ago, and a corresponding increase in system RAM use.  I hope SU3 at the very least does not degrade frame rate.

I thought metrics were still enabled?

You’ll see little to no difference, if anything you’ll need stuff like process lasso for the 9950X3D because of the split CCD.

You misunderstand me, Kevin. What I mean is......does the new LOD curve magic kit resolve this problem in MSFS 2024?

My apologies Chris.  There are two answers to this question, the quick and dirty one, and the longer slightly more complex one!

Quick and dirty: it doesn't entirely resolve it, but makes it less bad.  Whether the outcome is acceptable to you or not is entirely subjective and individual.

Longer complex: now I understand how OLOD works, (as explained above) it IS possible to mitigate the problem in 2024 to an acceptable degree, by using a very high OLOD setting to complement the new LOD curve.  However, you need to bear in mind whether your hardware will permit this whilst retaining the performance level you want to maintain.  Screen size will affect LOD progression in 2024, unlike in 2020, and the increased level of detail in 2024 can (depending on settings) really test ones hardware.  For me, with top end hardware, OLOD set at a minimum of 200, and in 4k, I find things very acceptable.  I haven't tested with OLOD at 200-400 yet.  I'll do so tomorrow and post some images for you to compare, if you like?

Any improvement would be welcome, so that is a good start!

When I finally do decide to make the switch to MSFS 2024, it will be with a new PC. This should be a reasonably decent specification, and I will only be running at 1080p resolution, so I expect to be able to run TLOD and OLOD settings at least as high as the 250/200 that I use in MSFS 2020 with my current PC.

Running great here thanks!

As far as the "wheels" issue, I've found that AIG planes seem to suffer the most, followed by FSLTL and then finally FSTraffic, which has added additional model LODs specifically related to MSFS2024.

The FSTraffic control panel even has its own LOD settings

I tried AIG, but the FSLTL install is so straightforward that I way prefer it, plus the ability to easily reduce the textures to 1024 using a flightsim.to MOD...

FSTraffic has 4k textures 😕  That would hammer my 8GB GPU ...

Clouds still look good on the horizon in this latest build. XP12 still takes the cake by comparison but this is definitely a lot better that SU2.

I also really love this pic which shows off light pollution and and moon lighting up the atmosphere in the distance. Moon is still too small.

Just think back to billboard rotating clouds in P3D back in yonder times 🤣

I just took a look at the SU3 beta forum in the official MSFS forums and read several threads on 1.5.26. Seems like there is a lot of positive responses about this build (of course, some people are still having problems, but the general tone was positive overall). This is a good sign for SU3, it looks like we are getting closer to the final release, unless the MSFS team introduces some nasty bug in a future SU3 beta build, and they have to fix it and delay the release of SU3.
