November 15, 2025Nov 15 So some of you are basically removing the rolling cache completely, even though it is apparently a vital part of the MSFS 2024 architecture? November 15, 2025Nov 15 Rolling cache removed or resized or not: .25 is a real stutterfest compared to .23 (or even more earlier SU4 builds) on my system. Time to throw some mud in ACR until the next build drops. 'It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.'
November 15, 2025Nov 15 This will probably create a debate. David Roch's mention is one of the methods many simmers use. The other method is for MS Store/Game Pass C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache Steam C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache Just delete the ROLLINGCACHE.CCC file. But after a restart, it will create the default size of 16 GB; from there, you can adjust to the smallest size you can. Some get results between 32-128 GB. And ASOBO states that the rolling cache is integrated into the design of MSFS2024 and is part of the initialization. Also, it's mentioned that deleting, not disabling, the RC is most likely to determine whether the cache is causing issues. But ASOBO stops short of providing a solution for what to do if this is indeed the problem. Apparently, in SU4, this issue is partially addressed by software optimization. People will see how it works on their systems. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

Deleting it will rebuild it at 16GB I have mine (if I want) at a size of 0.0 byte 😜 (shown both in Fs24 and the actual rollingcache.ccc file size). That means: It isn't used by FS24. If you apply above method, you wont find any .ccc file anymore on your PC and thus no rolling cache anymore. End of the story. I've tested cache on and off and I get better performance with it off. No stutters and from what I read if you have a good connection you can get away with no cache.
