Yes, and so FS won't rebuild the cache because it "exists" but it is empty.

  • Yes the change log will be long.. but let me tell you, it’s not just “performance” as in the fps in the flights are much better (which is true).. it’s the whole entire experience using the software. E

  • The cloud weirdness seems to be gone (in 2D, I don't use VR). Clouds are back to their normal fluffy look, with none of that pixel-creep/shimmer weirdness that happened in the last build.  Perfor

  • Took the Fenix for a quick spin EGNM to EGLL and smooth as silk (again). very promising. FWIW not that it would have applied to this specefic trip but I have never seen/noticed any black lines over wa

How do you disable the rolling cache?

In MS2024 the rolling cache is a vital part of the architecture and cannot be disabled.

64 gb works well fo me.

So some of you are basically removing the rolling cache completely, even though it is apparently a vital part of the MSFS 2024 architecture?

Rolling cache removed or resized or not: .25 is a real stutterfest compared to .23 (or even more earlier SU4 builds) on my system.

Time to throw some mud in ACR until the next build drops.

This will probably create a debate.

David Roch's mention is one of the methods many simmers use.

The other method is for
MS Store/Game Pass

C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

    Steam
C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Just delete the ROLLINGCACHE.CCC file.

But after a restart, it will create the default size of 16 GB; from there, you can adjust to the smallest size you can. Some get results between 32-128 GB.

And ASOBO states that the rolling cache is integrated into the design of MSFS2024 and is part of the initialization. Also, it's mentioned that deleting, not disabling, the RC is most likely to determine whether the cache is causing issues. But ASOBO stops short of providing a solution for what to do if this is indeed the problem.

Apparently, in SU4, this issue is partially addressed by software optimization. People will see how it works on their systems.

Neither does your computer nor FS24 explode when you're removing the RC. I found it makes zero difference.

It can't be removed.

Deleting it will rebuild it at 16GB

I have mine (if I want)  at a size of 0.0 byte 😜 (shown both in Fs24 and the actual rollingcache.ccc file size). That means: It isn't used by FS24.

It does not. If you apply above method, you wont find any .ccc file anymore on your PC and thus no rolling cache anymore. End of the story.

Hi Rob 😉
1/ Create a CACHE folder on your desktop.
2/ In FS2024 settings > online > rolling cache settings/path, enter your folder's path (desktop) and close FS.
3/ Delete your CACHE folder and that's it, no more rolling cache, FS will be fooled and you'll be happy 🙂

Or you can just rename the folder and the sim won't create a cache file.

I've tested cache on and off and I get better performance with it off. No stutters and from what I read if you have a good connection you can get away with no cache.

But you can't rename the default folder.

I didn't use the default location to save my cache file.

Since when does MSFS use user settings?  lol
