Looking for a New Virus Protection Software

I am currently using Webroot but starting to think it does not play nice with MSFS2024. Any suggestions for a good program that has no issues with 2024?

Thanks

  • I work in Cyber Security and highly recommend a third party solution Windows Defender isn't that great. ESET is my recommendation its very easy on the system and protects to a high level works well wi

Thanks. I have heard that, just wanted confirmation that is an accurate statement.

Yeah, I haven't used third party stuff in a decade now.

Yes, I have not used third-party virus detection for several years. Just keep Windows and especially Defender up to date and be vigilant about what sites you go to and what you click.

I use MalwareBytes, they have different subscriptions levels and you can also set folder exceptions it will not monitor.

As above, plus:
You are your own best antivirus device.
Don't open unsolicited emails.
If you do, never click on any link inside them.
Don't click on any website link that you don't trust, be careful where
you visit and you will be fine.

Gone are the days when you needed (if you ever really did), awful resource hogs like AVG, Norton etc. Used to be you couldn't install anything without looking very carefully to see what else was going to be installed without you realising it as these programs were bundled with just about everything. And then getting rid of them was a nightmare. All you need is Windows and some common sense now.

Another vote for default Windows Defender.  I'm not an IT security expert but I talk to people who are and they say Defender is as good as anything else (if not better).

The problem is that the former "trusted" names in the business have been bought and sold so many times now that those original companies no longer exist.  The names that used to be the most trusted are just brands that have been bought and sold.

Whatever AV software you choose, exclude the msfs directory and exe from being scanned. You could probably keep your current AV if you do this.

BitDefender (the free version) is pretty good. I also run a Malwarebytes scan every month or so.

Great advice.  Any anti-virus should be considered your final line of defence.
