If I remember correctly ref over the fence at 43k was only 95 knots - what a wing.

I just happen to have my old series 2B checklist and performance sheet at hand !

At 42,000lb flaps 27.5 threshold speed says 94kt so 95kt at 43K your memory is spot on 👍🙂

The company also had approval for take off at 46,500#. I believe it was a mod of some kind.

Razbam *may* be making one for MSFS if they fully transitioned off of DCS at this point. Will try to confirm.

I think they're rather focused on Falcon 5 at this point (going by a few public statements they've made). But even that has already generated some controversy with MicroProse...

Once upon a time, they did produce civ sim addons, and their work in DCS World eventually rose to a high level of fidelity, so it's possible they could produce a good civ sim addon. But a lot of Razbam subs got burned by the fallout, so not sure they'd sign on for another project...

In my eyes the PMDG JS41 wasn´t that good.

IRL being a geared turboprop, in FSX it simply worked like a free turbine, very evident during startup.

Offcourse at that time a proper Turboprop model didn´t exist. In FSX the underlying Turboprop modelling was based on The PT-6 (free turbine) and not much could be done with that.

With MSFS2024, this might be different.

Personally I would like either a proper ATR or the Dash-8 (Q400).

The ATR or Dash 8 would almost certainly be better financial propositions, but they are no match as far as looks, class, and sheer Britishness are concerned

Could see Black Square doing a Metroliner, that'd be my wish for them one day as their aircraft so far have really impressed me.

Hi:

I appreciate your mention of the nuances of the engine characteristics of the JS41 in the FSX SIM.

No RW pilot here…🙂…But, yes, it was the FSX version that I must have flown countless times, from Cold & Dark to Engine Shutdown, properly setting up its FMS each time. It always gave me a very distinctive experience unlike any other turboprop of the time in FSX. I greatly enjoyed the experience, and also the sounds of the spooling up (or spooling down) engines.

Again, I would not know about the specifics you’ve mentioned. I’m still wishing for PMDG to come up with a better (and more realistic) rendition of it in MSFS2024, before my hair turns much greyer…🙂

We’ll see.

Cheers…!

It was not meant as negative critisism, just a headsup that the JS41 wasn+t quite as advanced code wise hat we are used to from PMDG when it comes to simulating it´s engines.

Most people never noticed. I only did so cause I coded the Aerosoft OV-10 Bronco, which also had geared turboprops.

We actually got a tad closer to simulate these kind of Turboprops. They still used the FSX internal free turbine turboprop model, but we disguised these with more realistic spool up animations of the propellers.

Did it evolve to be a stable addon? Do you recommend getting it? I see it's 50% off on inibuilds btw

Honestly, I haven't flown it in years. It was fun for me early on but I moved on to other developers. Its a smaller turbopropliner (or whatever they're called).

I'd love to see A2A bring one of their "captain of the ship" series prop liners into MSFS.  The Connie was AMAZING.

Oh…so, you coded that Aerosoft OV-10 Bronco X of the yesteryears…🙂

A great (twin-turboprop) SIM airplane of its time. The a/c looked a bit strange and was a challenge to fly, but if I recall correctly, I’d eventually mastered it.

It was fun…would be also fun to have in MSFS…

I think Azurpoly do a Bronco that has had good reviews

Yeah it´s some years ago now...

It´s main issue was that it´s ground handling was quite aggresive, again something rooted in FSX's weird Turboprop modelling.
