Islandsims take on PMDG

IslandSimPilot makes some very good points in that video. There are far too many people throwing insults and accusations at PMDG these days, and for very little reason. Of course their products are not absolutely perfect. No products are. However, PMDG aircraft are some of the very best simulated aircraft available for a PC flight simulator. Even more importantly, it has already been stated that the external modelling of the new MSFS 2024 version of the 737 is being upgraded. PMDG felt (quite rightly in my opinion) that releasing the 737-800 just before Christmas would enable many of us to enjoy flying it during the holidays. That was a nice gesture as far as I am concerned, although the conspiracy theorists inevitably criticised them for releasing an incomplete product

I really do not understand the hate thrown at PMDG. They make incredibly detailed and performance friendly aircraft that have very few (if any) show stopping bugs. They provide relatively frequent and detailed updates about what they are doing, and why certain things are taking longer than expected. You can call them liars for missing deadlines or exaggerating the price of your favourite beverage, but at the end of the day they develop top quality simulated aircraft. There is no debate about that. They just do. As for the cost of the new 737 in MSFS 2024, I consider a 60% discount for existing users of the MSFS 2020 versions to be a generous offer, considering how much time and effort has seemingly been devoted to this rebuild  Some users even got the 60% discount when they did not own the MSFS 2020 version of the 737-800, and I am betting that some of these champions still thought that it was a rip off

I really wish that the flightsim community as a whole would look at itself in the mirror, and think before criticising one of the best developers in the business. They are not perfect, but they are a lot closer than 99% of the flightsim world. We would do well to remember that.

I agree 1000% Some folks get their rocks off bashing PMDG. Like I said before, I've been a satisfied customer of PMDG since FS9 days. And I still enjoy it sometimes when I go back to P3D for memory sakes. Even when Flight 1 released their version, I stuck with PMDG because of their quality work. And will always support them.

You see HATE?  I just see opinion.  Anyway, I'm just off to get six or seven cups of coffee.

Yeah.. ive been around. Some are a little too eager with the pile on. Their "opinion has been seen and understood far and wide.. and yet every opportunity that opens up they "speak" regardless of whether the subject matter has no relevance to their grouse  they insert themselves into the conversation. I'm no PMDG apologist by any means and Robert Randazzo does himself no favors with his unique personality and his method of conversation but at some point when the same usernames show up over and over and threads get locked you start to take note to who is actually providing their opinion and who has an axe to grind.

Sure.. You may have a showstopping issue that they have not addressed or something is not up to your standard (Price, quality, cost, personalities). Your going to moan about it in every single thread? Or are you simply not going to purchase the product going forward? I know most reasonable people are going to do option two and check in to see if there is any progress/improvement to fix their issue.. but to grandstand about it every opportunity ? Yeah .. that's a bit much. You already decided you aren't going to support the product and its certainly ok to state why a couple of times .. Every time even when the topic at hand has nothing to do with your issue ? Eventually its an ignore for me.

This is called Flight Simulator, not bolt or tire, read the door signs simulator. Exactly what do you want a real 737 incorporated developed by PMDG? You never mentioned how the plane flies and handle in the and get you to your destinations. How well it flies approaches to rwys and RNAV approaches. You need to lower your spoiled expectations a little and realize this is a great study level jet that I appreciate PMDG has made their contributions to this great hobby. Get a life.

I was posting satire ... I thought that was obvious, apparently not.

I watched it earlier. Looked more of a clickbait title to get views to me. Among his complaint? When standing 6 inches from the tire it isn’t perfectly round. He is outraged. I think if you don’t like it then don’t plaster your face up against it. I tell YouTube don’t show me any more of this guys videos so now I am no longer bothered.

You must be thinking of a different video...?

I'm not familiar with ISP, but I quite agree with his position in the video linked above.

I watched the video referenced in video linked here. That dude lost me asserting that he said that he really really didn’t care about visuals, he was only truly concerned with systems depth and proper procedures….then spends the rest of the video griping about visuals 🙄

Mate, @SayAgains post was the most tongue in check sarcasm I've seen on this board in a long time.... how on earth did you think he was serious?? 🤣🤣

Because international forums are not really the place to post anything but deadpan.
Humour does not travel well, it never has.
As we see, what might be glaringly obviously meant to be a joke to some, can be
completely misunderstood by others.
Very few comedians achieve international success, no matter how funny they may
be seen to be at home.

A remake of the classic British sitcom Fawlty Towers failed in the U.S. as they thought the Basil Fawlty character wasn't funny and wrote him out.

That is true, some cultures comedy is VERY different than my British deadpan background (even my wife often thinks I’m being serious in some of my deadpan communications and gets all riled up).  I’ve watched a few international shows where my friends (from said country) were cracking up and I was wondering why on earth they thought it was funny.  Probably why so many British comedy shows fail when Americanized and shown in the US.

But, something I’m not going to change so it is what it is.

The certificate isn't the problem, its that danged memo on the left insisting on names in posts, or you'll be considered a failed airman...
