BlackSquare Caravan Professional out

II always brought the prop “up on the governor” on takeoff, by adding power to get it to 1900 rpm, and then you just add power until the torque gets to just shy of takeoff power (which off the top of my head for a 675-hp Caravan is 1865 ft/lbs), because the ram air effect will increase it as the take off roll progresses.  Flying a Caravan in normal ops, you never touch the prop lever until engine shutdown.  It’s just full forward all day.

That is what  I did on my last 2 flights. it  was 2 perfect takeoff and no problem with the engines during cruise. Now I just have to land the thing. 🙂

Are the EFB on the Black Square planes pure fiction, or does it mimic some real device?

doe you mean;

is the app mimicing how the internal working of the engines and systems are as the real airplane does? - yes

is the app mimicing the internal working of the engines and systems modelled after a real app? - no

Only two flights but so far this thing is nice!  I have had 2 good landings, very good ones -- it seems to really respond well to my inputs, and when loaded the Super Cargomaster flies like I'd expect...and when unloaded it flies as I would expect.

Not that I have ever flown one in real life heh

I'm liking the engine management.  One thing that's interesting, I have to be really careful about going full forward on the *prop* lever, or it exceeds 1900 rpm in the limited experience I've had.  I expected to not go full forward with the throttle lever, but I didn't expect that with the prop.  I figured 1900 rpm = pretty much full forward, but that's not the case in the limited times I've flown it.

Also I had a fuel imbalance that I was able to solve.  I was out of coordination for a little while after I climbed out, and, I had to put in some rudder trim and then close out the heavy fuel tank for a few minutes.  Worked great.   Not much has been said about rudder trim except ATR's statements earlier in this thread, but I may end up putting something in my notes about this airplane.  I know with a Pilatus PC-6 turboprop you have to put in rudder trim so I'd expect that here too, but not sure yet.  More flying is needed, which I won't mind doing!

Close the light tank!  😉

Quick question: Can you remove the cargo pod from the cargo variant? This might sound silly, but i rather buy the non-cargo variant if the pod cannot be removed. Thanks.

Apparently this is a requested option but I don't think so.  However, in previous BS aircraft we could make some odd combos with an ini file so it may be possible I haven't even considered it.

Suggest buying the bundle.  This plane is good enough to deserve it.

Bert

Yeah i guess that's the best solution, i do have a weak spot for the C208. I'll just get the bundle and see whether i can remove the pod somehow - additional fun :)

Thank you @ryanbatc @Bert Pieke!

Bought the cargo / amphibian version of this at the weekend. It's the first Black Square aircraft I've bought and have to say, very impressed. Feels great to fly and love the way you have to manage the engine, environment etc. On my first flight I had the low pressure bleed valve fail which somewhat limited power and also the ITT gauge!

I've only tried the cargo one so far but looking forward to having a go with the amphibian around Bora Bora very soon!

I can't imagine anyone is waiting for my take on these, but it'll be a few more days till I'm home and can get it all setup to fly.

The first looks, look good though.  I'm excited to give the amphib a good go from Toronto in my old stomping grounds.
