MSFS City Update 14: The Netherlands and Belgium

I cannot remember if it happend before the CU14 update, but with the Flytampa EHAM scenery I was on taxiway B on my way to RW 36L when all of a sudden I broke through the bridge over the highway A4. End of the game… I tried the Gaya version which was fine, but that‘s not a serious alternative.

FlyTampa EHAM has all sorts of problems in 2024. Officially it is not compatible and probably never will be given how long it takes FlyTampa to make updates.

I expect it's for FSWeekend which is happening this weekend in the Netherlands so maybe it was going to be today/over the weekend.

It is not perfect, I agree..  But it sure is a massive improvement over the previous scenery! If you focus on the overall look from 1500 feet or so, it sure is impressive flying over Amsterdam 🙂

So far, the lack of 3D Procedural grass over those low resolution grass textures, and low resolution taxiway sign textures are the main problems that I have seen (together with a handful of floating taxiway centreline lights, although this was also a problem in MSFS 2020). I am not sure if I have attempted to taxi over the bridge in question yet, but I will check it out. I have downloaded a fix which apparently adds 3D grass to cover those low resolution grass textures, but I have not tested it yet.

Interestingly, the animated vehicles at Aerosoft EDDF Frankfurt disappear underground when trying to get over the bridges there, but I have no problem with my aircraft. Aerosoft have suggested to me that it is a conflict with the Premium Deluxe version of Frankfurt, but since I only have the Standard Edition of MSFS 2024, that cannot be the case.

Just downloaded and installed (so no streaming) and flew a bit over Antwerp.
Again (and again and again and again) PG just doesn't deliver. Way too much melted stuff at various locations throughout the city and on top of that ugly gray textures.
I live there so I know how it "should look", texture wise, quite a bit of stuff is just off.
Not impressed, if this was payware I would ask for a refund.

That realy looks crazy, i don`t like that so i understand your point of view..

So 6 years we have now programetry but to this day, not much has really changed, and to be honest, i don’t think it’ll ever be any good – i’d rather stick with the usual buildings, nicer to look at !!

cheers 😉

Photogrammetry is always streamed, manually downloading the update does nothing but install some small file(s).

I don't believe they've officially said what it actually downloads, but I just assume it's just a file that tells the sim to stream the new photogrammetry instead of the base scenery.

If they were to actually let you download the photogrammetry, I imagine it would probably be a few hundred GB.

Still looks better than the same old boring autogen buildings that don't even really fit the area they're in.

Photogrammetry was never designed to be looked ut up close. Anything below 1000 ft is just asking for trouble.
