Haven't watched it yet but disappointed reading about the weather comments, after all this silence you'd think they were cooking something exciting. Let's face it 2024 is now just in its maintenance phase, throw in a few city updates and planes until they get the next sim ready. No doubt we'll see weather the main theme in the trailer $$$.

Your post reminds me of an old joke:

At least the Caravelle has been taken out of the hands of AH after the 707 debacle.

OMG - didn’t they learn the first time around…?

AH has been commercially successful with warbirds for a long, long time. Probably best to keep them in that box.

Expert Series 02 is the Piper M600 by FSReborn

HOLY…!!

The 500 remains one of the most pleasant, “chill”experiences in the sim. Very automated, G3000, stable flight, good manners around the pattern, still has failures, persistence, etc

But it’s not quite the rocket ship the TBM is…

yknow, I asked Raul awhile ago if he’d be willing to do a 600, and he was fairly nay nay…🤷‍♂️

My thanks to Jorg for motivating Raul!!!

Well, overall I was quite impressed by the presentation, specially the consideration reegarding fine tuning of some weather effects, but also the flight dynamics improvements, the new CFD visualization modes, the Working Tittle developments on aircraft systems, ...

It really looks like they keep doing their best to further improve MSFS.

I'm glad 😍

Hey, man - you can’t just barge in here and start throwing around all those positive comments… 😂

Proper weather radar implementation too, which is huge!

Not as long as areas of heavy precipitaton are not dangerous to fly through. What do I need a radar for, when I don't have to avoid any weather?

Well Seb did talk about improved cloud turbulence coming to SU5 during the stream

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

Reading between the lines, the current live weather limitations are caused by the source data from Meteoblue. Asobo can either work with the data they have or completely redo the weather engine. Seems like some people would prefer the latter, even though it would likely be a monumental undertaking that would cut into every other part of development with the sim. We also don't know if Meteoblue has plans to improve the data. We'll probably never know due to NDAs that surround these kinds of things. At this point, I'd say the horse is dead. Just because Asobo doesn't publicly acknowledge something doesn't mean they don't believe it's an issue.

Why even comment when you haven't watched any of the video? They mentioned improvements with turbulence and updrafts. They even mentioned a new interface they will be implementing to see where turbulence is coming from and to troubleshoot perceived issues with too much or too little turbulence.

Made me laugh when they said they need to go live weather and find thunderstorms, easy to find especially in the US. At least tilt for weather radar is coming.

I only watched the parts discussing the E550 (Praetor) and M600.

There was an early tidbit Matt mentioned...  that the work they are doing on the Praetor could be a baseline for future Microsoft Flight Simulators...  That sounds promising to me.

I noticed they also had a visualization on the default EFB of some of the hydraulics on the Praetor.  Apparently A2A and Blacksquare have created a trend 🙂

Overall the depth of systems on the Praetor looks SUPERB.  Matt said 100% functionality on the FMS.  Must be a word not allowed TON of work to do that.  It looks to be the best of both worlds with Asobo making the art and WT doing the systems/flight model/logic.  I wonder what the cost will be?  Whatever it is I'll be buying it on day one.  21 min or so to FL430 (max is 450) - I work a lot of these aircraft as an ATC daily and they climb like a homesick angel... they are amazing.  MMO .83.  A range of just over 4000nm... and they have excellent ramp appeal 🙂

Perhaps Raul's M600 will be even more in depth?  "FSR Level" is a term that floats around their discord hehe.  If you don't treat the aircraft nicely it might virtually kill you hehe.  I enjoy his 500 but it's a little slow for my taste...  the 600 adds maybe 20 knots TAS I think.  Would have been sweet to see the Fury, as that's more on par with the TBM 9 series.  Regardless if you haven't purchased anything from Raul at FSReborn, I would highly recommend ANY of his products.  Seems like his E55P Phenom 300E will be arriving Soon TM 😉

With so much of the systems work WT put into the Longitude going unnoticed because of the lack of visualization, I'm glad they're following this trend! I've always viewed it as a tad gimmicky, but it is a nice way to learn how the systems work under the hood.

I really do hope that people like @SeedyL can share the sentiment about our weather reality with Live Weather. Everytime I hear Seb talk about weather he always defers back to what's possible in preset mode. Most of us don't use preset mode. If we wanted a really good preset mode, fine then open it up for developers like the Hifi team to have more control on preset creation with no transition. I'd argue we had better management of weather in the old ESP code. I again bring up the point of what we had in Active Sky Next and their ability to give us literally tornadoes in live weather, TCU and even wing fade.

Secondly, this constant conversation about CFD dynamics is great, but you don't have the visuals to back it up. I have not seen a towering TCU formation ever in this sim. When I mean towering I mean what you would see in real life up to the flight levels. I hate to be the one that brings the X-Plane conversation back, but if anyone has doubts of what is possible versus what we have, look at what they do with their towering clouds.

Finally, Everyone who is frustrated with the current weather status should really make their feelings known in https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/metar-keeps-disrupting-the-weather-bugged-weather-cumulus-cb-clouds-only-no-medium-to-high-cloud-coverage/487587?u=pilotowawawa. Or here . https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/where-are-the-cumulonimbus-clouds/262852?u=pilotowawawa

I keep hearing that they "monitor the forums" for feedback no what get's prioritized. The basic reality is that we are not happy with the weather state. We have made it clearly apparent in many places. Anywhere you look, their forums, here, reddit, the list keeps going, so if they are so attentive to what the community is asking for, why are we still not having a serious conversation that involves the cloud depiction.

TLDR: We need a serious conversation on weather depiction with LIVE weather. CFD dyanmics are great, but do they matter if we can't even see it in the sim with Live weather?.

I'd like to THINK that most of us don't use preset mode but I'm not sure.  Microsoft has those stats.

As for XP, anyone should be able to bring up another sim and we should be able to act like decent humans discussing it.  IMO the mods should shut down the members who have child tantrums instead of shutting down the actual threads.  I do agree, like most though, that the weather needs a big overhaul.  There are some really nice clouds I've seen, but it's just the look of the cloud itself that I like - I did not observe any cloud structures or formations sadly.  I don't think I've really seen anything other than stratus or "cumulus" in MSFS 2020 or 2024.

This stuff kinda reminds me of the recent ATC thread... where it seems like a LOT of users have zero real world experience and don't know what to expect with ATC, therefore they assume the programs are working correctly.  The same assumption can be made with weather.  I've read a lot of posts at reddit or msfs forums where people really like live weather.  I would imagine only 5-10% of ALL MSFS platform users have any real world aviation experience.  That's pure speculation on my part though.  Navigraph surveys might show differently but we must remember than NG's population is typically hard core simmers who would pay for data/charts.  That being said, weather isn't everyone's priority.  I guess for me it's flight physics and weather - they kinda go hand in hand.  But I also really enjoy super high fidelity visuals - and usually Asobo does pretty well with this.  With these standards I also use XP as the weather and physics are definitely better overall (in the base simulator).  There are some exceptions here and there of course with both sims.

I agree with your sentiment but I can also see it from the devs perspective. The first thread is about inaccurate depiction of METARs - that's fine but not what we're actually asking for. The second thread is all the way from 2020 and covers a wide variety of issues, some of which have been improved since.

I feel like what would be more effective is starting a new thread that's calling for an overhaul of weather in 2024. Just simple as that and straight to the point. Get that upvoted into the sort of numbers Asobo can't ignore.

Great minds think alike - this is pretty much what struck me hardest from the entire preso!

The level of detail/fidelity that Matt described for the Praetor is simply astounding. The other Hi Fi 3rd party devs are gonna have some serious, legitimate competition from this addon.

And yeah, the M600 is a GREAT piece of news! I had been almost literally saddened that the 500 hasn't been updated for v2024. I had assumed it was due to the workload of producing the Phenom, but no, this has turned my frown upside down 🙂

I suppose this means we might not see a major update to the 500, but TBH, i'm okay with that - NOW. 😉
