  • This is honestly the most maddening thing about the MSFS development team. I know they read these forums and it blows my mind they're fine with X-Plane smoking them on clouds and weather. Weather is a

I really do hope that people like @SeedyL can share the sentiment about our weather reality with Live Weather. Everytime I hear Seb talk about weather he always defers back to what's possible in prese

Their whole response to the weather questions was very, very disappointing quite frankly.

Seb had to be prodded in the back with a broom handle before he gave a response about thunderstorms in live weather and then Jorge had to press the 'technical difficulties' button under his desk as Martial slipped into some obscure Franglaise.

I only watched 30minutes of the stream but it was just another marketing exercise to show they care and listen with some extra bonus content thrown in for good measure, but they are quite clearly not listening with regards to Live Weather as yet again they ask for posts on the forums.....there's thousands of them!

Oh and how ironic the stream went dead, that actually made me laugh 😄

Yeah it's pretty disappointing that these subjects get regurgitated with the same rabbit in the headlights responses time & time again, they've improved weather generally but seem intent on focusing on Presets which of course makes it easier to please the eye candy crowd. The thing this is supposed to be a flight "simulation" and Live Weather should take a much higher priority than it ever has up until now, sometimes I think they just don't "get it" so to speak.

It's a big team, there's a lot going on. They're on the edge of greatness but they can't quite see the wood for the trees...

Haven't watched it yet but disappointed reading about the weather comments, after all this silence you'd think they were cooking something exciting. Let's face it 2024 is now just in its maintenance phase, throw in a few city updates and planes until they get the next sim ready. No doubt we'll see weather the main theme in the trailer $$$.

Yup...they really seem to think weather is perfectly fine in the sim since you can fully adjust how clouds look in 'Preset' mode. Live WX is good enough in their mind it seems. After being asked about the Thunderstorm depiction (lack thereof) and after a moment of 'crickets' from Seb, he brushed it off and talked about how good the turbulence model is. He also said Thunderstorms are fine in 'Preset' mode.  I don't think we will see much weather/cloud improvement in Live WX for a long time if ever as nobody is acknowledging there's even a problem or the fact it needs to be improved. Looks like we are stuck with tiny cottonball clouds at FL 350 for the foreseeable future in Live WX mode!🫤

Will have to watch the livestream but this is truly disappointing. I was thinking yesterday that we're not going to see any change to weather until the next version of MSFS ? (2028)? I think they've decided it doesn't matter. I just don't understand how weather and particularly cloud depiction can be seen as so relatively unimportant. They are absolutely critical to the pilot.

They had world and weather as an agenda item but had nothing to say about weather from their side? Is that right?

Check out the video above. The timeline is annotated.

Well, overall I was quite impressed by the presentation, specially the consideration reegarding fine tuning of some weather effects, but also the flight dynamics improvements, the new CFD visualization modes, the Working Tittle developments on aircraft systems, ...

It really looks like they keep doing their best to further improve MSFS.

I'm glad 😍

Any word on snow coverage? Or do they still consider their 20°C snow cover in vast areas of the Alps throughout four quarters of a year as being representative of a good weather engine? I mean, those guys are French, do they never fly in the French Alps in their own sim using live weather? The amount of ignorance, total stupidity or simply absolute absence of any kind of working QA control never stops to amaze me. It takes actually using the sim for 5mins to realize that this aspect is complete and utter nonsense, yet we have it almost entirely untouched for several years now. Impressive...

No, it's not, this dev streamed showed that. They talked about several things coming to the sim that isn't just scenery.

How about you actually watch the stream instead of making false assumptions.

That's an issue with their data provider, not the sim itself.

They talked about both.

I wouldn't be surprised if Meteoblue is holding them back from improving live weather
they need better data

Missed it, but I was just thinking about the ongoing silence this afternoon. And here there was a developer stream on the very day. Well now I have to wait for the VOD.

Yes they are doing their best given RL restrictions.

All the weather nuts make me think of RL - if there is nothing to complain about, then complain about the weather.  lol

Proper weather radar implementation too, which is huge! Sure, I was a little disappointed that they didn't have anything concrete to say about cloud rendering but I'm not going to have a fatalistic attitude about it. As I said earlier, I've seen many people say we'd never get weather radar tilt, yet here we are.
