April 26Apr 26 Picking up 2024 before the current sale ends, but now I'm asking the lads what edition do you have and if the extra planes are worth the extra dough? Any standouts? Disappointments? MSI Aegis R | Intel i7-14700F | NVIDIA RTX 4060 | 1TB NVMe | 32GB RAM | Windows 11
April 26Apr 26 Standard is enough. none of the additional Asobo/Microsoft aircraft or sceneries are worth it. Better invest into proper addons then. April 26Apr 26 I have the collector’s edition, I don’t rarely use any of the included aircraft and my collector edition bag tag has been lost or stolen from my flight bag.. So I’d agree with @guenseli and just but the standard and use the money saved to buy some nice additions you’d actually use. I think even the aircraft in the higher editions are available to purchase individually if something catches your eye, without having to purchase the whole edition. I think the upper editions are good value if you’re a more casual simmer and want lots of different aircraft to play with, it’s just they’re not as good as the payware we have access to now. Having said that the default aircraft are probably much better than a lot of payware of yesteryear. 787 captain. April 26Apr 26 I bought the standard and I'm still able to use aircraft & airports from my v2020 Premium Edition. So standard version if you already have a v2020 premium edition. MSFS
April 26Apr 26 If you're mainly an IFR/payware user, I'd just get Standard. That's the route I'd take now because most of my time ends up in PMDG/Fenix-type aircraft anyway, so the higher-tier bundles don't really change much for me. If one specific included aircraft really matters to you, then it can be worth it, but otherwise I'd keep the extra money for add-ons you'll actually use.
April 26Apr 26 Standard all the way, IMHO. The good addons will have to be purchased, and Standard already includes a wealth of great defaults, some of them having free mods that bring them to "professional" level. April 26Apr 26 I got the Premium Deluxe version, since the money really wasn't an issue. I have to agree with the guys that got the Standard version, though, since I really don't use the aircraft. I use some of the stock airports, but I also had to disable several others to avoid conflicts with the addons that I purchased. I also agree that it's always best to buy addons from the developer, or you can also use Orbx and Contrail since updates are readily available from both. April 26Apr 26 The C-17 is good, but that’s the only default aircraft I use anymore. Most of the others I was interested in (A330, Saab 340) are quite disappointing, still full of issue, and I never fly them. April 26Apr 26 Personally and as many have already said - I find the standard edition enough. However - you can buy single planes from the deluxe and the premium deluxe versions in the marketplace. But not all of them - e.g. I cannot find the Saab 340. You can also upgrade later to a deluxe or premium deluxe versions in the marketplace. So nothing is lost when starting with the standard edition.
April 26Apr 26 I got Premium Deluxe as well, because I really wanted the C700 Longitude (if you have 2020 you still get the 2020 version in 24, just not the full native 2024 version with cabin and upgraded cockpit/opening doors etc) I also got it for the PC-24 which initially was totally not good, but it has been improved over the last year to where it's acceptable, not nearly as good as the C700 though. I also wanted Mike Johnson's HU16 Grumman Albatross - which has proven to be one of the best defaults out there. There's some cool mods for the TDS GTNxi in it as well. Sadly the Airbus helicopters H225 has gone downhill due to the loss of the lead dev at HPG (I think he's okay but he's just not developing anymore). But that helicopter was another reason... it's not a good reason anymore though, it's unflyable. iniBuilds is apparently supposed to be "working on it." Not sure how I feel about that. You also get the analog gauge C172 Skyhawk in the PD - a lot of people like that one. Oh, and the Cirrus, yeah I almost forgot about that! Another solid addon... I've done a few paints for it! GotFriends' Savage Norden (PD) is also a superb little default aircraft - it's super agile like the real one - another fav default for me. Carenado's C90 GTX King Air - not a great default aircraft but also included in PD. EDIT: Oh yeah I did not know that we could just buy a single aircraft from the D or PD - I probably would have done that instead had we known. But I'm overall happy with the PD package. April 26Apr 26 I got Premium Deluxe (store edition), but I would have been just as well off getting Standard. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
April 26Apr 26 As already said above by Ryan, if you're into business jets the Citation Longitude alone is the worth the price difference for the Premium Deluxe edition. After Working Title gave it their AAU treatment it pretty much is a payware level biz jet IMO. Will say the same about the SR22. Those two combined make the Premium Deluxe more than worth it for me. Not sure how much they are if added individually to the standard edition in 2024, assuming that's possible. In general, if you're into any of the aircraft in the Deluxe or PD editions that have received the higher fidelity AAU enhancements, then maybe worth considering.
