Favorite airfield for FPS testing?

When you want to baseline aircraft addons with the least performance impact from scenery, where do you go?

So far, I get the highest FPS with addons at Wake Island.

Better than Diego Garcia, better than Sirri or Abu Musa islands in the Persian Gulf.

Could be anywhere, just need a runway around 7000’ or longer.

What is the purpose of finding the place with the LEAST impact? For me, it is exactly the opposite: I set my sim up as such that I get the performance I want at the MOST demanding scenario, then I am sure that it will work anywhere else. Because of this, it makes (for me) also zero difference, how the addon performs in a baseline approach, I will anyway never see this performance anywhere...

KEWR Newark Liberty by drzewieckidesign is the one I am using the most lately. Fairly demanding without being OTT. I usually fly over New York City where I have several addons (RKbridger and Samscene) and down to inibuilds JFK. This gives my system a good workout. If I get acceptable performance there, I'm usually OK for pretty much everywhere.

I haven't done any FPS testing since FSX. Is it a 'thing' any more?

If I get a new aircraft I tend to do the same route as a 'first flight' just to generally see what it's like and to get a feel for it, but not to test anything specific.

It is a thing for those not capable of buying one of the most potent CPUs and combine it with the most potent GPU ;-)

RJTT is my test base, with all the photogrammetry in Tokyo on. If an addon can perform there, it will be fine anywhere.

As a dedicated GA flyer in the sim, even with my humble 3080, testing and even monitoring FPS and performance just isn't a thing any more. It was when I flew airliners. With my settings ('High' on average), I can fly any aircraft from the Flyboy Simulations Rans S6 up to the Black Square Dukes, in any airport I have installed (I have hundreds) and I never get anything other than utterly fluid, stutter-free performance. It's what I love most about MSFS 2024. It just works for me. This is in 1440p, with texture resolution in the sim set to High. Not having to juggle the performance between heavy, complex airliners and resource-demanding international airports is something I definitely don't miss!

I use EDDF Aerosoft or EGLL with ORBX EGLC and City around for testning but again the OP question makes little sense.

FHAW. I don't know why you would want that, but yeah FHAW spits out the best performance as it is a very isolated island without any fancy upgrades from ASOBO. Maybe Xmas island as well (YPXM), or some atoll lost mid-pacific.

Hence the OP's use of Wake Island...PWAK

The idea of getting a baseline at a simple place with few or no scenery impacts is interesting.

I have two flights I do often - KSEA to KBFI, landing over downtown Seattle and KBUR over to KLAX past the LA downtown - if I can take off, fly, and land with zero stutters then I know I’m dialed in for any other flight I might want to do.

I use FSI Panel which is good for this ,even departing with racetrack to approach

CYBD - Bella Cola is perfect for testing. Also used by AvAngel.
