September 15Sep 15 Maybe they should ask the P3D or FSX developers how they did it? It was never a problem back then, so it should not be a problem now. The fact that they have not done anything about it to date is not a great reflection of their capabilities. Despite what a few people around here say, this is a significant problem that needs to be resolved ASAP. MS/Asobo would get trapped in the "why does it look better on a PC than my XBOX/PS5".This culling issue is "by design" hence why it's being ignored by MS/Asobo. I do keep checking back with each SU, but we're on SU7 now so I think the writing is on the wall.So they cannot separate or isolate the two? Marco D'Agostino

September 15Sep 15 Guys the Terrain enhancement mod reduces the awful detail culling significantly, and you can use default MSFS maps now. Play a few notches above default and medium and I've got the sim looking perfect again. (It just highlights how blurry the base game is now, pathetic).I've got crisp, perfect looking terrain and good frames. I find it to be a rather silly conspiracy theory that they're sitting there thinking "well we can't allow the PC to look better than the console". They already allow increased visual fidelity for PC via settings while the consoles are locked down to lower visual settings. If there was a way where they could fix the culling issue for more capable hardware platforms (via settings) and then still be performative for lower-end hardware platforms, then why wouldn't they allow that since that's a win-win for all. I'm thinking the current problem is either a bug they haven't quite figured out a good fix for, or they haven't figured out how to properly scale the visual fidelity and LOD processing/curves across various hardware capabilities (hence the more aggressive LOD processing in order to cater to the lowest common denominator for now). My hunch is that it's the latter, but hoping it's the former so it can be fixed soon.Yeah, I can see how it could negatively affect devs. Though I can’t remember ever seeing it on my own aircraft up close like that…I don’t believe it’s “by design”, though. It seems very much like a side effect of something else to which gear visibility is tied.Is it possible that gear have no LoDs of their own, and so get culled earlier than they should…? I had to work all through as well, and harder as you say while others were isolating, but I didn't take his generalised remark as a slight in any way. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I use that as well, although I hadn't seen any difference with the landing gear culling mess, but I will look again. As for the benefits of the mod even with the default map, I do agree that Medium and higher make a very difference to me.

It's really good for getting the crisp terrain back. I don't see the need for using any map provider other than MSFS default. The detail slider costs frames, but you can get far better than default and still get sharp and smooth flying.
