  1. RL: CYVR - Vancouver. My hometown airport: beautiful scenery on the approach if you're lucky enough to sit on the side of the plane facing the northshore mountains, and a beautiful interior of the airport in which it's relatively easy to find your way around. Sim: lots! :-)
  2. I don't know if you'll get a consensus on values to set, as this is probably best left to personal preference. Like you, I found the default values to be exaggerated, so for tubeliners, I set RND to around 1.8 or so, and for GA aircraft, a little higher ... maybe 2.5. I don't adjust DHM or CR at all, though. I set up the views in my cockpit to specific joystick buttons, and for the ones that focus on certain instruments or panels, I turn off RND, DHM, and CR entirely.
  3. To answer your question, Stuart, like Peter, I bought the BB A320 at version 0.55 and upgraded it to 0.60. I don't even remember whether I upgraded to 0.80; by that time, I'm pretty sure that I had bought the Aerosoft A320 and had lost interest in the BB aircraft.
  4. Hi, Stuart. I bought the Blackbox A320 but stopped flying it long ago once I bought the excellent Aerosoft Airbus. It's been quite a while since I last flew the Blackbox A320 (maybe more than a year or so), but I may be able to answer at least a few questions. #1: Yes, it is. I'm surprised that there hasn't been a fix yet. #2: Don't recall having that problem. #3: If I recall correctly, you have to press the button in the middle of the rudder tiller to the left of the pilot. That will enable nosewheel steering. #4. Sorry, can't recall. Good luck. I highly recommend that Aerosoft Airbus as an alternative.
  5. Still have one somewhere in my basement, too. Gosh, I'll have to dig it out one of these days ...
  6. Great livery, and fantastic shots (as usual) of my corner of the world! The livery brings back memories of going to Expo 86.
  7. What a great thread! It's SO interesting to see the names that I've seen on AVSIM (some for years and years) talking about what they do, or did if they are now retired, in real life. Wow! Quite a lot of variation, and some really interesting people! So ... here's what I do. I'm the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Horticulture at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, a public teaching university in the suburbs of Vancouver, Canada. For those of you unfamiliar with the academy and its titles, the job I do is kinda similar to what a Vice-Principal does in a high school. By the way, it's pretty easy to find me through Google, and in British Columbia, all public servant (yeah, I'm one of those) salaries over a certain threshold are published for all to see, so I'm not too worried about divulging information. Much of what I've written below can be found elsewhere--e.g., LinkedIn. Anyway, I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's, and I'm also in a Doctor of Education program (Ed.D) at Simon Fraser University. I finished my coursework last year and am presently completing my comprehensive exams, which are due on March 31. I have to write two papers, a lit review and a conceptual piece, each at minimum 25 pages long not including references. I should be finished my second paper by the end of next week, and then I'll submit both the lit review and the conceptual piece for marking. Assuming I pass (I'm pretty sure that I will), I'll be a doctoral candidate some time in April and will get started soon after on the proposal for my dissertation, which I hope to complete by 2018 or 2019. Since I'm spending upwards of two hours per evening doing some in-depth academic writing after anywhere from a 9 or 10 hour stressful workday, I haven't done a great deal of flight simming lately, unfortunately. When I do flight sim, I tend to take the Razbam Metroliner III for a spin: a nice, easy to set up aircraft that flies on many short (1.5 hrs or less) routes--which is all I have time for every now and then.
  8. Not to sidetrack the thread, but ... only 100 were built? Wow!
  9. Ha! This thread just keeps on getting better and better!
  10. Doesn't American Express have no preset spending limit? :-)
  11. Beautiful. Coincidentally, I'm in Victoria today, Friday, and Saturday attending a conference. Have a beautiful view of the harbour from my room at the Inn at Laurel Point. Lots of Harbour Air aircraft in the harbour ...
  12. With the modded autopilot, the plane will definitely follow the GPS course. Without the mod, I can't quite recall, as I've had the mods for a long time, but I don't think so.
  13. I've been flying the Metroliner exclusively for the past three weeks. I love the way that it handles, the cockpit has a lot of character, and it's really easy and quick to jump in and cold start. It's great for those one- to one-and-a-half hour flights, which is about all the time that I can afford to flight sim these days. I'm surprised that people have assigned it to a "worst plane bought" list; perhaps these people haven't taken advantage of the excellent mods. Anyway, to answer your question, it is a good buy--definitely worth the trouble installing the mods (which are not that difficult to install, really).
  14. Love it! Saw Capricorn One at a drive-in theatre a long, long, long time ago. Great theme for an FSX/FS9 adventure!
  15. Regardless of whatever bugs still exist, with Bjoern's and lzamm's excellent mods (thanks a million!!!), the Metroliner is a great little aircraft. Like be77solo, I also really enjoy flying it.
  16. My current favourite to fly, especially in the Ameriflight livery. To answer your questions ... I don't set pressurization, as the majority of my flights have been under an hour and I tend not to fly at levels that require pressurization. I always keep bleed air pressure on. Don't know if it makes a difference or not. I turn fuel boost on. Doing so extinguishes the warning lights concerning fuel (I think it's the "fuel xfer" warning light, but I'm not at my home computer, so I can't confirm).
  17. I went to Windows 10 a few months ago when it was first released. I just upgraded my Windows 7 install; I didn't do a clean install. I've had no issues running FSX, TrackIR, etc.
  18. Not just you, Tom. Having just bought a PFC yoke for my Christmas and birthday present to myself, I'm really, really, really trying not to be tempted by new aircraft, but I succumb to my addiction almost every time. RealAir Legacy v2 here I come!
  19. Good luck and stay safe, those who are in the middle of the nasty weather. For us here in the Pacific Northwest (metropolitan Vancouver, Canada), the weather has actually been mild for this time of the year: no snow at all and temperatures near 10 degrees Celsius/50 degrees Fahrenheit).
