  1. Had that very problem myself. I found that answer here on Avsim in an old thread, but briefly, keep the condition lever at 0, and start the ignition, then s-l-o-w-l-y increase the lever to about 20% or until the engine starts. This should eliminate the surge forward.
  2. I just tried to PM Bert and am experiencing the same as Bruce and Jeff. Just wanted to say a sincere thank you to Bert for everything he does for our hobby.
  3. I have both. I'd have to say that the Twin Otter is somewhat better simulated, but I like each of the aircraft. Why not get both if you can afford to do so? :-)
  4. Very useful! Thank you very much for your wonderful contribution to our hobby.
  5. US $139.95 = CDN $186.48 = more than I'm willing to pay. Too bad ... I didn't buy the FSX version, so I was looking forward to the P3D version.
  6. More on the basement flight simulator set-up here.
  7. Wow! All three released in such a short period of time! What to do ... what to do? Which to buy? I know! I'll buy all three. After all, it's Christmas!
  8. Great idea! I've been thinking of a tour of BC myself.
  9. Love the Canadian flag in front of the sun! Great! :canada-flag:
  10. Thought it might be Ontario. :-)
  11. Timex Sinclair ZX81 "The Flight Simulator" ... believe it or not. The Timex Sinclair was my first computer back in the early 80s (yeah ... I've been around a loooong time).
  12. When I switched to P3D, I missed the NGX with the -600/-700 add-on so much I was happy to buy it again. YMMV.
  13. Like the other posters, I switched to P3D (this past June, actually, to version 3.3.5), and I haven't looked back. I've kept FSX on my computer just in case, but lately, I've been uninstalling aircraft from FSX that either I've installed in or re-bought for P3D. I thought that I might run FSX along with P3D for aircraft that aren't available in P3D (e.g., PMDG J41), but ... I just can't bring myself to go back to FSX for any reason. At some point, I'll uninstall FSX entirely.
  14. Jon Patch was the developer of the Vancouver scenery add-on. As a Vancouverite myself, I'd love to have the scenery upgraded for P3D, but sadly, he passed away in 2015. http://www.avsim.com/topic/463116-jon-patch-dies/ I'd imagine that since FSAdd acted on behalf of the heir's wishes to remove the add-on, it will not be available legally.
  15. Good luck, Phil. Best wishes, Joel
  16. Thanks, Jim. No inconvenience at all. Just wanted to be sure that it wasn't a problem at my end. :-)
  17. Had the same experience yesterday as well. Avsim was down, and I also checked isitdownrightnow.com. I was surprised earlier today when I saw that no one had commented ... until I saw Richard's post above (whew, actually!).
  18. I've had this problem as well. I uninstalled EZCA and downloaded the full installer from Flight1. The latest installer has the complete, updated version (1.18.7, if I remember correctly), so you won't have to install an older version and then update after update after update. Before reinstalling, I also deleted the Flight1 *.lic file for EZCA, which is found in one of the folders that the wrapper installs. After doing all of that, things were back to normal. You should check out the EZDok support forum on simforums.com. Lots of useful help there.
  19. Steve (Slayer) beat me to it! I, too, set up static views for operating the FMS or for accessing buttons and switches that are not within easy view. I map them to my Thrustmaster joystick buttons. It's not unusual for me to have around 6 or 8 different views set, some with static views, some with TrackIR enabled.
  20. I would also pay for a P3D version ... as I did already for the PMDG 737-800/900 and -600/700.
