  1. What I find most interesting (and it comes down to money so makes sense) is that the domestic props that’ll use the smaller runway to the north will have the furthest to taxi, and most domestic destinations are to the south, while international traffic using the big south runway will want to be heading north-ish
  2. Yeah fair enough. I’ll continue to play devils advocate and this isn’t directed personally at you either. I don’t have a deep technical understanding on how DLSS works. It seems to use a neutral rework that compares images from the game in high res and then trains the model to use that data to upscale when it seems something similar at a lower resuloution. Perhaps because the terrain uses aerial images, so is totally unique, it doesn’t work as good as a traditional game when there’s a finite number of textures. I also don’t think it’ll be simple to try DLSS else they would have already. Probably quite a lot of work to work it into the render pipeline, perhaps refactor code, then train the model (multiple times to see if you could get better results with different parameters, for example). I’d trust a career developer with a deep understanding of how the game works if this technique would have some merit. I wouldn’t write off his decision as a new tech phobia.
  3. In the dev q&a prior to the last one (I think) seb said that DLSS probably wouldn’t make a huge difference as seen in other games because of the style of game. When flying along the picture doesn’t change that much. The ground go by little by little. From that statement I believe DLSS is more benifitial in FPS, or fast moving games.
  4. Yeah, for anyone wondering the O'Hare project was kicked off my Mayor Richard M. Daley... the same guy who gave the orders to have the Meigs Field runway illegally ripped up in the middle of the night.
  5. I’m also interested in the technical flight model answer. Will it change my mind? No, I’m still very likely to buy this. If the flight model is external I believe it means they’re implementing a lot of their own stuff including (as far as I’m aware) how it interacts with weather, air masses etc. I’m which case it might not be possible to get that detailed wx/wind information from the sims APIs. If it’s native MSFS you get the work Asobo has done, the 1306 aircraft surfaces, interacting with the complex wind and weather. And any further improvements they make to it. This part is a big selling point of the sim, and makes it seem like we’re flying not on rails. I’m not saying the external model approach is better or worse (it depends to what extent it’s written, what you what to simulate etc), I’m just interested because I’m a coder so it’s up my alley
  6. Can’t wait for this! Amir said the external nature of this plane was similar to the Majestic Q400. The way I understand that works is by doing all the flight calculations in a program outside the sim and using simcnnect to reposition the aircraft on the x,y, z (basically in slew) multiple times a second. if this is similar it’ll might mean that the MSFS flight modeling isn’t used at all. Eg the 1306 surfaces, the wind interacting over the wind etc. Having said all that the video looks great so maybe a non issue. Can anyone shed more light on this?
  7. Yep, you got it. TPM Spec 2.0
  8. Any update to this issue? I've got AdaptiveSimGroupEnable=False setting in. Seems to happen when you select the jetway vs the GSX triggering. I can manually call the jetway via the Tab+S menu and it's all good.
  9. They’re trying to be open and transparent. Unlike ACES studio from previous MS FlightSim releases who we never heard from. I think its great they’re so open, I love the Dev Q&A’s.
  10. So do you think they should be trying to optimise the sim to run better without using so many system resources? Perhaps you’ll be interested in the work being done with Xbox
  11. The gigabytes of data is generally the aerial imagery files... no longer required with MSFS 🙂
  12. That was their first scenery, yes. Guess it stuck after that.
  13. No, I feel the same. I think it’s just different personalities and perspectives. I know that Asobo is in this for the long haul, WANTS to do all-the-things, but it takes time. Others perhaps don’t know how long things take to develop, see that they haven’t prioritised their thing so get word not allowed thinking Asobo doesn’t really care and start to make explainations. They’re only in it for the money, they don’t care, it’s all about the Xbox etc. I’m not sure there’s a lot we can do about this thinking.
  14. All this computer work is making me thirsty, think I’ll order a Tab
  15. I’m ok with that. That’s how it starts. There was a lot of low quality stuff back in Fs2002,FS9 days, but people learned.
  16. You can rename the shortcut on your desktop to “Microsoft Flight Simulator -Beta” if that helps 😄 /sarcastic
