As for the "mental prowess"? You're right. I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just happen to be enrolled in Airline Transport Professionals Academy working towards my MEI with 200 hours of real world flight time.
You have much to learn about the basics of aircraft. Saying a 777 is similar to a 737 is like saying a honda civic is the same as a semi truck because they both have a speedometer and a steering wheel. Also, dont use the fact that your enrolled in a program as leverage for your false claims. I could enroll in an Art college, so does that make me more of an expert than a freelance artist? I can only draw stick figures, but im enrolled in an art college, so what i say is law for all your non art college folks!!! :(Just because you know what MEI means doesnt make you an expert in the field.
Post No 1. My money's on 'Troll' any takers?
LOL Sorry, I'm not trying to boost my post count with this... I just thought it was really funny!

Can't you guys get it in your heads, that PMDG has said 'NO' to the 777?Really, this is getting rather tedious, irritating and boring. Some of you are acting like a bunch of spoiled kids begging, kicking and screaming at their patents for candy.Im wondering how many adults are posting in this thread nowadays.Anthony ReesCape TownSouth Africa

Hello Anthony,Are you really sure? Please see Vin's answer below (same thread as this one, by the way).http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...t&p=1637281Now, what were your other points?Rgds,Bruno

We've never made any such statement. Now, with that said, can everyone make a tiny attempt at being civil with one another? We're talking about airplanes here for goodness sake.

Unfortunately, you're not understanding my original reasoning's. I am completely aware that the 737 and 777 are not the same. Trust me. My point that I was making was that - in the confines in FS, producing another heavy airliner like the 777, would be distinctly similar to other products they have already produced. I will stand by my comments - and some have agreed with me - in Flight Simulator, a 737 will be a lot like a 777. Heavy airliner with the same AFDS properties. LNAV, VNAV - sit back and watch the FMS fly the course. As for using "leverage for false claims"? A poster decided it was appropriate to basically say that I didn't have the mental prowess to fly MSFS - which to say the least was pretty insulting. I believe that I had every right to defend myself with the information that I do in fact, have the mental capability to fly planes in real life - thus, negating the claim that I couldn't play some game. Further more, did I EVER once state that I was an expert in any field? Trust me, the fact that I'm working towards a multi-engine instrument doesn't make me an expert in anything, but it sure does shut the person up who told me I was too dumb to operate MSFS.This is a forum for debate and support, not a place to insult people - or guess their capabilities when you have no idea who they are. It would be great if people could communicate fairly in this forum and support one-another - even if you disagree with what their saying.

Hi Blake,So true,By the way, I think everybody should agree that a 737NG and a 777 are very similar and...very different.Obviouly, since they are both recent Boeing products, they have a lot in common but...Even for those of us (including me) who prefer short/medium range flights, strapping into a 747, MD11, 767 or ...777, programming the FMS, taking off, going to bed and waking up the following day to land (real time) half a world away is an experience that you can't have in a 737 and that can be a lot of fun. And the aircraft systems are different, or give you a broader view of how a manufacturer's systems are implemented in a different product family (or simulated by a different sim developper), not to mention what you learn about transcontinental operations, etc etc.If minor things (like for example beeing able to choose the livery from the airline we like the best) can make us happy, then beeing able to select the plane we like the best takes us to heaven. For some, switching from a Boeing product to another Boeing product is all they need - even if switching from a large jet to a regional turboprop would be even more of a challenge. At this time, taking into account the limitations of my present computer, I am perfectly happy with my NG, 767 and ATR but I know there are some absolutely great PMDG planes waiting for me when I and my computer are ready for them. Best regards,Bruno

The reality of it is that a lot of us cannot do 6 or 7 or 8 hour flights on a daily basis, or even weekly. A 737 is perfect for 2 or 3 hour flights, sure... But even if PMDG created a 777, it would be no different than the 747 and the MD-11 that are two long range cruisers. I'm also sure that many of us fly the the 744 and MDs on short routes, like the one the tutorial. We've got 2 long range craft and more or less "1" (different variations) short-mid range aircraft, the 737.I would like to see PMDG develop another short range to mid range plane like the 737. Perhaps a regional jet like the CRJ series, or the ERJ series?

I don't understand few things:.: What was the point to do MD-11 which is almost retired in real world? And 747-400 which will be retired pretty soon? Now users saying "there are 2 big jets why we need more?". Because those are Dead On Arrival!.: What's the point to do one more 737? There are bunch of them on market..: Why nobody does GOOD 777 with FMC?

I am the poster to whom Blake is referring, and I disagree with Blake's statement that I "decided it was appropriate" to make the mental prowess comment. To the contrary, I feel my comment was wholly inappropriate. I should not have made a personal attack. I have privately apologized for the comment. My comment was in response to what I believe is a personal attack against me and others who share a desire for a 777. To support my positition in favor of the 777, I have never attacked those who do not wish for a 777. However in response, people make comments that translate to "You are foolish to want a 777. You already have a 747, and it's the same plane." Those types of comments are dismissive, sardonic, and have no place in a productive discussion. We are all very passionate about our hobby. Many of us dedicate a substantial portion of our free time enjoying flight sim. It should come as no shock that folks can vehemently disagree, but we should strive to discuss without personal attacks. Fidel Lopez

I think this has gone too far? I would be more than happy if PMDG went ahead with a 777. I think I share the same feelings as do other people that I would be happy with anything PMDG rolled out. I just feel like they should make something that is vastly different from the other products they do. Just my opinion. I know in no-way ever made a comment that translates to anyone being foolish for wanting a 777. Lets just move on guys. This is supposed to fun...

You will still see them flying around the world in 15-20 years. So much for your brilliant "almost retired" comment.
