PMDG 737 NGX: The View Forward

Featured Replies

That's easy...Because they are still working modeling things...
ah, all right
Hi all,This is my first time replying in any forum let alone this one so please go gentle on me. I have been reading all the message about the NGX and the anticipation is through the roof. I love this plane, so much so that I'm 3 years into to building a full scale replica of the cockpit. I was getting to the point where I was considering which interface program to use whether it was PM Systems, Flight Deck Software or Open Cockpits/SIOC. However does the fact that the NGX will have an SDK mean that it will provide offsets which make it easier to interface hardware with it via FSUIPC? Will it mean that all switches/Buttons and Annunciators will have an individual offset? A second question completely off topic but got to ask. A lot of people commenting in this forum have their computer specs listed below their name. I would love to know what fps you are getting based on your specs as I really struggle to get good fps when I use ORBX scenery, REX weather and a decent level of detail set in FSX and I have a quad core (2.2ghz) with 8gig ram. My setup will start to become pretty demanding once I start interfacing the overhead, MIP and pedestal plus I found that pmdg's 747 crashed constantly or I got strange black areas in the scenery with my current system. Any help on a decent system would be much appreciated, I just want the whole system to run sensationally with the PMDG 737NGX at the core of it.Look forward to hearing from you.RegardsMike Kendall

I love typos in a casual sense! This one especally! :(
You know mate, not everyone in the world speaks English (or American) as their first language.I don't think he made any typos. Perhaps you could give a go replying to him in Dutch, French or German without any "typos".Cheers,RudyPS speaking of typos - you have 737NXG in your signature. ;)

I am reading this threat thread already from start. Sometimes it's (was) very hard to no reply on some of the messages because I didn't want to. This time I couldn't resist to reply because I think a lot of people here don't know what programming is. I suppose most of them have the 737 serie (for FS9), 747, MD11 and/or JS41. Starting from cold and dark, have you ever been looking very good to your screen what all is happening ? You click the batteries on, you see the switch moving to that possition, you hear some noice, starting up the external power and air, again switches are moving, you startup the APU, see figures moving up, hear sounds etc etc. All these, the movements of the flaps, airbrakes, engine reverse, MCP, FMC, .... that all have to be programmed and must be running synchrone with each other. If this never came to your mind then take your time and look very good to the complete system. Don't think about flying, just think what's going on with that bird. I hope you'll be surprised of what you're seeing and hearing, inside and outside the aircraft. Each time I fly the MD-11 or B-747, I'm so impressed how the PMDG team managed all this. So, please don't ask any longer when it will be released. Give the team their time for having a wonderful NGX.Thank you.
You sound like you're cutting the people behind the development a huge slack, with a slight pout :( . All this talk about giving them time for them to finish so the end product is 100% perfect is nonsensical. They are a business, and they do programming for money, not charity. In the end they're gonna rake in a fortune and we'll be happy with the product, something that we all want. In business, money speaks, not pleasantries. Now in a results-oriented industry like this, we want results, and on the way there, we want to see some progress. As of now, there have been tens of posts telling people to let PMDG do their best, yes I'm positive we all want that but keeping people in the dark for almost a month? Come on. Apologies for the rant in my first post. Frank Muzammil

Yes, it's results oriented business, and most of us is eager to pay a lot of money for those results (especially those who work for that money), not for yet another beta stage product marked as final release, witch is so common in today's software industry.I've been waiting quite long and I can wait more.

(my emphasis)We wont be happy with the product if they release a half finished, bug filled plane like some other developers have been doing lately. That would be very bad for PMDGs image. I'm sure they realize this as well, so they'll take whatever time it requires. They dont owe us anything in regards to a product which havent even been released yet. When it comes to release dates then I do not think they'll release it anytime soon at all. They havent announced entering beta yet, which they said they certainly would whenever they reach that stage. I'm guessing AT LEAST two months of beta before they can start to think about release. My guess for release date would be around christmas time 2010. Certainly not after 31.12.2010. After that I feel like I can start to ask for progress reports and release dates again. Until that time I'm going to enjoy my other planes.

no new pictures, so release is close! :D

My optimistic side says you're right. There haven't been any screenshots in quite a while. In some ways a news blackout. Of course, we could both be wrong. Either way PMDG will not release this aircraft before it's ready no matter how much whining and crying we do.

look at it this way. No screenshots for a month, maybe they are in beta testing right now. Only ryan is commenting on this thread, and not very frequentlly so maybe just maybe

I believe PMDG has said they will tell us when the product enters BETA as they have for previous releases.

I say we all pitch in $500 each (it would take roughly 100,000 of us) and bam! we got ourselves a brand new 737 from boeing! Then we can take all the pictures we want on the inside/outside. We can all take turns humping the landing gear and snorting the 'new airplane' fumes while a few of us who actually have the type rating can fly us around in it! I'm in, who else?-Z

all these rumors are like the Y2K and 2012 rumors. everybody EXPECTS something and when the day comes and everything is normal and nothing happens people feel like morons. :(

Not sure why everyone is so hyper about needing this thing so badly. Sure, I am looking forward to playing with it, but It'll be out when it is out, that's all there is to it. If that upsets anyone, then they might as well get over it, because there's no amount of whining and fretting that will change matters. It's not like it is the only aeroplane we have to fly, and if you want a 737 so badly in the meantime, go and get the Wilco one, which was good enough to gain an Avsim award when it was reviewed on this site. Or the Fifty North, or the POSKY, or the Aerosim, or the Ariane, or the Tin Mouse, or the X-737, or the 737 Experience, or the etc, etc.Al

Absolutely Al. The PIC737 is an amazing aircraft. Especially using FS2Crew2010 Voice Command. It's not the NG, but it's a version of the 737 that is still very common. I think they did a great job with it.
