Thanks for the detailed response. I might consider the below alternative, same shop (Overclockers.co.uk) but a different model, with i7, and with 6 GB RAM. A bit more expensive though. One can select the desired O/S as well as the Graphics Card from the available models. In this case I would choose the third one, which is a NVIDIA gfx card. Please, be so kind and review the link so you can see it, and let me know, is it a better choice for me?http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....amp;subcat=1712Thanks indeed!
I think this is quite a bit better. The i7 chips are great and the motherboard is from Gigabyte's top line (there's several version of this that have more features and cost more, but the basic chips and board are the same). In fact, it's the motherboard I use and has worked very well for me. You get the tripple channel RAM as well.My criticism's (not that they should turn you away from this, they're fairly minor) is that the system still seems a bit underpowered. However, I have to assume that they'd have a lot of complaints and returned products if this was horribly underpowered and this likely works fine. The other catch point is that your lone nVidia GPU is a GTX 470--a great card, but overkill for FSX. Perhaps since these are already custom builds you could contact them about alternative nVidia cards...perhaps even a lower model like a GTX 285 they'd be willing to discount the price some (I really doubt the discount, but never hurts to ask)?My system is the following:Intel i7-920 at 3.60 GHz (from stock 2.67 GHz)Prolimatech Megahalem CPU Cooler (keeps the CPU <60C even with overclock while under full load)Gigabyte G-EX58-UD3R MotherboardCorsair XMS3 3x2GB 1333 RAMGTX 285 1GBCorsair 750W PSUSoundblaster X-Fi Platinum2xSATA DVD/DVD-RW3x7200 RPM SATA HD (not in any type of RAID, total of 1 TB space)Windows 7 64 bitAs you can see it's really quite similar to the system above. With a little bit of tweaking (like *******'s .cfg BP=0) I can run FSX + Acceleration with REX, FSGenesis Mesh, SceneryTech landclass, ASX and GEX USA and World of AI quite well by my standards. I have commerical AI set to 100% (fills about 65-70% of gates at a major hub) with all sliders except autogen set fully to the right. Autogen is one notch away. I do not use light bloom (that is still too big a performance hit) and have low (5-10%) road and airport vehicle traffic. All aircraft details are enabled except aircraft casting shadows on themselves (I don't have ground shadows on either, come to think of it I haven't tried to see what this does to performance). With these settings, I can fly a complex aircraft (PMDG MD-11, JS41 or FlyTheMaddog 2008) with FS2Crew installed out of a major hub with add-on scenery (FSDT KORD, KJFK, PHNL or FlyTampa KBOS) at a busy rush hour time (4-6 PM local times) in the virtual cockpit and get 23-25 FPS on the ground. For me, FSX is very smooth at these FPS. Occasionally while taxiing if I turn to face a particularly complex building with lots of parked AI I can see my FPS drop to around 18 FPS. When in the air (including final approach) I do not drop below 20 FPS and rarely is it below 25 FPS. When up at cruise altitude this is more lik 40 FPS. I am not sure of what you're expectations are for FSX, but hopefully this can give you a good comparison to make your judgements with.Eric Szczesniak

What part of 'type your full name' do you not under stand? Your careless attitude is appalling at best.

I think I will then choose this second configuration. To be honest, 18 and more FPS are great, on my present computer, I was happy with FPS above 6-7, and max 15-20, for FS2004 and still not everything set at maximum... You can imagine, landing with 6-8 FPS... Basically this one will be my first PC that will smoothly run a flight simulator, this before I always had to struggle. Although I play flight simulators for more than 13 years now, I could never enjoy a really smooth gameplay, due to the fact that I could never afford a powerful computer... So I'm getting sure that I will take the above config, and I will still have to choose a monitor. As for the monitor, I will not spend much on it. Is a 24" big? If it's too big, maybe a smaller will also do fine. Thanks so much for all your help,in making the decision - it's very kind from you all! I really wanna fly the approaching NGX on a good PC!!!

Is there one for the wife who only comes in the room to talk to me during takeoff and final?

That's the "Eject The Captain" button for the FO :(

Funny, I thought mine was the only one who had a magic sensor that could know to walk in when I'm about 400 AGL. I can fly for 10 hours and she'll leave me alone until the runway comes into view. Its like magic.

I am worried about these shots, becuase this means that the development stage is only at VC panels? So we should be waiting until september time.
You do know you don't need VC geometry in place to test the systems gauges right? That stuff has been going for a long time.

Because some people just don't have respect for the PMDG team, who are putting all their time and effort into this. :(

Another fellow just posted on the FSDreamteam site and on the REX site that it will be released in July 2010. He must know something that we and PMDG dont yet know :( Sean Campbell

when it comes it will be the best 737 we will ever see in fsx i have no doubt about thatpmdg makes quality thats why it takes time. :(

Some people have been requesting shots of an alternate MCP. Here are some renders of the two variants that will be available in the release PMDG 737NG 2.0
Are you guy's have some problem with a colors, or what? I mean, the old one have some weird lilac color on panel and in VC...now again. I hope this is only W.I.P, not final product.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

You could just adjust the colour balance on your monitor.
