I'm really not that impressed, looks like glorified FSX textures except in a few area's and not up to their Australian standards. And let's not talk about the overpriced "little" airports at $50.00 (US).Over-hyped, just my opion...Darryl(btw...I have great respect for John and his company...hope their Brisbane Airport is not $100.00 :( )

This is sorta where I stand as well. To me it looks like GEX would do about the same thing... The changes aren't nearly as dramatic as Australia was from default FSX.

None of our airports have ever been US$50. They are all priced at US$35, or $8 extra for a shrink-wrapped boxed DVD edition without validation needed. Brisbane Airport will also be $35 when it's released in about four weeks. Where on earth did you get the impression it would be $100, or is that just your sense of humour?Perhaps you did not select USD as your currency at the Flightsimstore.com?You're not showing a lot of 'respect' with those comments Darryl, sorry mate.

Hi,I agree, guess I was also expecting better based on previous releases.

Wow, you're just quick on the draw there without having the actual scenery on hand, Daryl. Based on the above pics and from a fellow developer's perspective, I am certainly impressed. The terrain is simply outstanding and I'll definitely purchase when the dust and smoke settles. Congrats! ORBX.

Edited for speeling

Really nice comparison post Jigsaw. If you can't see a noticeable improvement in these shots over default I do suggest staying with default or even FS98 since that will give higher frame rates! This is my backyard... I fly here in real life and have for the past ten years. I can tell you after taking off from Hillsboro (KHIO) flying over to Aurora (KUAO), over to McMinnville (KMMV), down to Florence (6S2), up to Newport (KONP), then to Siletz Bay (S45), then to Tillamook (KTMK) this is the most realistic appearance this area has ever had in the sim... any sim. I have flown into each of these airports in real life so I'm not comparing them to Google Earth or any other scenery but from what I recall from really seeing them. The coastlines, little rivers and streams that exit into the ocean, sand bars, tree lined areas, the look of the green, etc. These guys got it right and it is a phenominal improvement over default, and a notable improvement over using UTX with GEX and GSGenesis landclass/mesh (which I still keep active for flying everywhere else).

Sorry Orbx guys, I'm going to skip this release and stick with MegaSceneryEarth textures. :( Sorry about the wrong info on the PNW airports, that's what I read or saw three days ago. :( They do look good for small airfields! But your Brisbane Airport looks like it will be the best FSX airport released so far... :( Please everyone, calm down...this is only one man's opinionDarryl

I've spent the past six hours tooling around OR and WA and I'm more impressed with this than I was with AU. (Could be, I've lived here.)The ORBX guys have done an amazing job - bush, rural, suburban, urban areas all "feel" correct.I counted six different bridge types in Portland alone - plus overpasses and flyovers. Then less than five minutes later, I'm flying over a pastural setting where I can practice my "ORBX Bounce" - pull up to 1500 AGL, cut fuel and find a patch of land that looks like a safe place to park it. :(

I am not really fussed about people's opinions of our products. FTX PNW will stand on its own merits and it won't appeal to everyone. I don't expect everyone to be obliged to praise what we do; that's too narcissistic for me, LOL!. What I did take exception to was a clearly erroneous reference to our airport pricing, something not related to the OP anyway.Regardless, we will be releasing a free demo in a few days so anyone who wants to see for themselves can download the demo and make up their own minds :)
