April 17, 201016 yr Hi Paul,Pretty interesting after reading both threads back to back, the only place there were rude, off topic, attacking posts, were in this FSX thread. Some of you can't even get along with each other.there were a few responses in the FS9 thread that were a little over-the-top tooit's to be expected with a discussion like this | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 17, 201016 yr Ryan,Which of the 20 posts fit? I just re-read them all and I can't find a single one that is rude, off topic, or attacking.

April 17, 201016 yr Moderator And for anyone who does not believe in Karma here is a true story for you. When I went through my first back operation I was engaged and the girl begged to be by my side. Foolishly I told her I did not want to drag her through it and needed to get through it on my own. I crushed her and never understood it until 4 years later when I was again engaged and again found myself in spinal surgery. This time convinced I was not going to make the same mistake twice I brought my fiance in on every decision, put all my faith in her being my rock and support and not once did I push her away until the night I came home from the hospital and she walked out in the middle of the night without a note, call or explanation, just left me to fend for myself 6 hours out of hospital and the ring on the dresser. Apparently for her it was too much while the girl I pushed away would have done anything to be by my side...THAT is when I started believing in Karma and life took on a whole different perspective for me...Trust me, what goes around comes around...Man that really sucks that your second fiance walked out on you in the middle of the night.BTW, without re-reading all the posts, I know you said you use FS9. Do you have FSX installed or have you ever tried it? The reason I ask is because if you installed it on your "primary rig" you should have no trouble getting really good performance. Look in my sig at what I am running FSX on, only an E8400 OC'ed to 3.85, 2gb RAM, and Win XP 32 bit. I primarely only fly heavies like the LDS 767 and CaptSim 727, and I can fly into pretty much any hub with most settings at or near maxed out and get a smooth flight with no blurries, even into KJFK. The only airport that for some reason I have to reduce settings is KDFW for some reason, I guess the default was poorly designed.Anyway, the point is that on your rig you should get really good performance as long as its set up right. The only reason I could not see using FSX is just because of the addon situation, although a lot of developers have made the FSX versions of their FS9 products free or at a discount if you purchased the FS9 version already.Regards,Sean Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

It does change your outlook on life and perspective though... I do have FSX on the primary rig and I do get pretty good performance. For me the FSX issue (if you can even call it that) is add-on availability. I am a KEWR guy. I think almost every flight I have made for the past x years has been to/from KEWR. Unfortunately there is no KEWR for FSX so when I do flights out of KEWR I am automatically going to FS9. Same thing with the 777 right now. If I want to do a 777 flight from KEWR- EHAM for example my real option is FS9. So for me it hasn't even become a performance issue or a feature/functionality issue, it has become an add-on availability issue... If the addon I choose to use for that flight is only available in FS9 that is what I am going to fly, if all the add-ons for that flight are available in FSX it could be an FSX flight that day. What I am grateful for is that BETWEEN BOTH SIMS I have pretty much anything/everything I could desire. As FSX add-ons continue to expand (which they are starting to do rapidly) I can see myself more in X than 9 but for right now I do still lean more to the 9 side. With that being said, I have NOTHING against FSX, its users or developers who choose to go FSX only. I get it, I support it and I just wish more people could step back and say to each their own, I am glad what you use brings you pleasure instead of the bickering but alas I dream of a perfect world ;)Thanks again Sean!-PaulPS, I am also a 99% heavy flyer into major hubs... Even I am realistic enough to know while my primary rig was ok a few years back it is not the HW I need to start taking the 747 into EGLL with max AI... Every time I go to drop the dough for the new rig I find a new toy for the bike and with the weather getting nicer the bike takes priority... For example the Garmin Bike GPS was $995, that could be half my computer build LOL... But as the end of summer comes and NVidia has their 2nd gen Fermi cards I think it will be the PERFECT time to build the beast!!! Just my internal thought process btw and I can be WAY OFF LOL...P.S.S-- I also agree with Jim, I can not find a single thread in the FS9 forum that puts down anyone or anything... It seems to be extremely amicable and sensible where this one did get a bit heated at times. With everyone stating the FS9 group is the most vocal, most critical and most negative it is interesting to see NONE of that in the FS9 forums... Just a simple observation take from it what you choose as this is only a quick snapshot in time and two threads... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
April 17, 201016 yr Hi Paul,Pretty interesting after reading both threads back to back, the only place there were rude, off topic, attacking posts, were in this FSX thread. Some of you can't even get along with each other.Well Jim this is typical behavior which is actually said, if someone is rude in generalthat has nothing to do with a Flight simulator version in general but just the person or and maybe his current mood setting.Lol I will ask the next person which is rude in real life which Simulator they use... In general it just don't add anything to a discussion pointing a finger which don't help each other or a discussion in general. For what it's worth I'm a mature parent and at the age of 46 moved along and just enjoy aviation in all it's forms virtual or in real life hence I'm coming from the fourth generation of rlw pilots. My oldest son (19 years) just started his airliner pilot training. So I enjoy aviation based on my own preferences and I personally don't care in which Sim someone enjoys aviation even if I develop for FSX which is based on passion and nothing else. Hence if I can help a fellow simmer to get the best out this hobby FS9 or FSX I always try to do so.I think we should just accept that different simmers (which are developers too ;-)) has different opinions as in real life and respect each other for that and just help each other to get the most out of our beloved hobby (nonindependent of software :-)) Have fun in the virtual skies flying or developing. You can do a search of history here in the fsx forum to find a plethora of posts of fs9'ers putting down fsx'ers. I think there are many here who have memories of such-perhaps why there is more heat here.I state this as a matter of fact which can easily be researched and verified with a search and not to churn anything up. It is certainly not an accurate synopsis of the overall temperature. I was just commenting on the two individual threads... Point taken though...-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
April 17, 201016 yr Hi,It truly amazes me how selfish people can be. Those that only use FSX want all FS9 production stopped because it interfers with the "me-me-me, I want it now attitude" and whine about the additional delay (in many cases there is no delay) for an FSX product. Then you have FS9 users that continue to whine to developers to continue FS9 support even after a developer has stated numerous times that production will no longer continue.Looking at both sides, I believe FSX only users are the more selfish of the two groups. At least FS9 users have not asked to stop FSX development in favor of FS9, where-as FSX users have asked time and time again to stop FS9 development because they don't want to wait one additional day for an addon due to FS9 development, again the "me-me-me, I want it now attitude".Let The Bashing Begin Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck
