Here is m 2 cents... There are many reasons why FSX is superior to FS9. 1. FS9 doesn't have support for multiple processor cores fsx does. 2. The amount of polygons that can be on screen at once is significantly less than FSX. For example, the Aerosoft Airbus X,which was requested to be made for fs9 as well, couldn't work in fsx because of the amount of detail. 3. Default textures are significantly worse (no animated jetways, luggage carts etc. at airports. The list goes on.... Now I'm not trying to bash FS9 ( that was my first sim and I used and thought it was awesome for its time) but there is just so much more that FSX can achieve visually, just look at PMDG j41 and aerosoft airbus X (not physically possible in FS9). But now i would never go back to FS9 because of all the "eye candy" fsx has to offer.

Ummm, the debate is not supposed to be about why you think FS9 or X is better - it's: Why is there so much hostility between 9 and X simmers? I noticed in your post you immediately wrote why you think FSX is better... that's not the point. Ask yourself why you feel FSXers and 9ers attack each other.

Hello RafalIt is because of the attitudes of forum members such as MatthewS that I have all but given up on postinghere at Avsim, and only read the forums now to keep up with new developments in the hobby. I do notice though that the most vitriolic and nasty members are the ones least likely to offer any help to other forum members that have issues running the sim.Summer is nearly here and we could all benefit from getting outdoors, do something else for a change and get some perspective .

Well, I didn't read the whole 3 pages of this post, I read the topic couple of days ago, but didn't have time to post. Gave it some thought and here is my opinion as to why:Being the newly wedded user of FSX (too), I have come to feel on my own skin as to why is there such a battle. I don't think anyone has forgotten what FS9 can bring, but it's rather the feeling of having less with FS9, I think.When I fire up the FSX, I'm welcomed by a stunning graphics, very nice models of aircraft, beautiful scenery and all, and then it comes down - bam, like a shower out of the clear blue sky - 20fps (in some situations). OK, you think for yourself, FS9 was so nice all this time, let's go back.Then you fire it up, and are welcomed by blurred textures in comparison, less eye candy etc. I know the feeling. I can identify with it. And that pushes me to put down the sim, in all honesty.I also know that sceneries for FS9 are in much higher availability, most of hubs I fly are not yet released for FSX, and FSX will for now be a sim I use for GA and just for fun... I think the reason being reasonable performance for masses.But what I really can't stand is this real ongoing battle between both worlds, like, for which sim should developers develop. First question is that concerns them, which is more profitable, and then 2nd, what people think. And this is where selfishness begins.You hear from both sides "develop for FSX, that is the sim of the future", then the other side begins with "FSX performance sux, people won't be able to run it" blah blah blaaaaaaaaah. Like, don't you people have ANYTHING else better to do?? Go fly, enjoy what you like and that's it. I actually count myself in that bunch too, I don't tend to write those posts, but I tweak endlessly (many know me from those 1000-post long threads), and that keeps me away from flying. And know what? I hate myself for that... but hell. It's a vicious circle.To put the end to my post, I think there is such negative disposition towards FS9 just because people are never satisfied. Well, I was having this very same conversation with my gay hairdresser, and I said I think these evil X men are just cruel ugly brutes!!!sHe said, no my silly little smukens (and smacked my tush), you have to go X because you see my sweet little faygelah, its all very simple, FS9 was Microsoft and FSX is Google… and Google is Gay.I just love how clear and simple sHe made it for me… So I say to all my fellow rear loading pilots out there, lets buy the same tree twice, lets stop all the flapping, lets just suck it in and make that giant leap for freedom, democracy and I just love those choc nut ice-creams with the cute little nuts as well, don’t be a big ugly hairy FS9er, it’s the right thing to do… go X because Google is Gay… :(
