Is MSFS the Phoenix that rises from the ashes?

I saw this, kinda makes me go hmmm. I hope this is not the rumored Xbox LIVE version. But if all my GF and yoke/rudder works on the Xbox I may be OK with this. Flight Simulator LIVEKevin

Someone posted something to the same effect in the Hanger forum: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=284383Frankly, I wouldn't care if the next version was on a console as long as I could:1. Plug it into my current monitor2. Plug in a keyboard, X52, and rudder pedals3. Still be able to use addon scenery, planes, weather, etc.4. Have all the same functionality as FSX has now.If all those condidtions were meant and it was on a console I wouldn't really care as long as it look good, performed good, and we could still add on to it. It would be a lot cheaper to upgrade consoles every few years than $2000 computer systems.

This might be the sticky point - they could be thinking that it makes better business sense to keep everything proprietary. I hope not.
HelloWith an X-Box version and it also being an online type of game, expect to see gamepacks offered by microsoft just like acceleration. The content being provided by Dev teams contracted in by microsoft just like sibwings and Captainsim were for Acceleration. Most of the existing dev teams will be left out in the cold, no innovation going forward and community interest starts dying out slowly.Would something like EZdok have happened in that type of scenario ?, I doubt it very much.

If Aerosoft is in any way successful with its simulator, which I highly doubt it will be in the sizes of the FSX, then I guess the market is going to split: Aerosoft for pros/addons market and MS for general market, kids who want to fly with the controller...But time will tell. I would wish for nothing more than really a well done sim, but the fact is, future compatibility between current addons and Aerosoft sim is highly unlikely. Did MS share the sourcecode with them? Don't think so...

HelloI doubt aerosoft will let their large selection of airports go to waste, they will want to use all those assets in their new sim.Why would they need the FSX source code to achieve this?.

I doubt they need it. After so many years with the MSFS brand around, I'm sure developers already know most, if not all, of the inner working of FS.

All right, for all us old fashsion types, the day is fast approaching that manned piloted acrft will become a thing of the past, and don't be suprised if your pilot in the near future steps into the cockpit and laying there on the seat will be game controller w/ a LCD screen infront of him :(

Guys, it says it's part of the "Games for Windows LIVE" line. So why are we talking about consoles?
Just what I was about to say, it seems like every couple weeks or months someone thinks that there will be a flight simulator on the Xbox. It's not going to happen, especially with the performance problems on the PC. Plus Xbox only uses DVD media so if the next flight simulator was bigger than FSX, which it probably will be, it will not fit.

But, of course, it could (would?) be tailored to fit.

Actually the Xbox 360 has the ability to install to the Hard Drive, and also, games such as Final Fantasy 13 have proven that you can have multiple disc games.
