Interesting.....but just to be clear......who has said that FS Live is going to be anything close to what hardcore flight simmers have become used to? If FS LIve is supposed to be appealing to the XBox generation, the focus will be on cosmetic appeal, not reality. Has there been an announcement about anything specific?

My wish list

Fixes to ground and water handling. Notice that the caravan float is missing from FSX? According to Lionheart they changed the contact points that made it difficult for an aircraft to operate on the ground and water. That is why the Kodiak's water handling isn't great.Atmosphere an volumetric clouds. I can't tell you what is needed to make the FSX world more real but there is clearly something missing. The EMB mod helps. As a starting point, make the default world look like the GEX scenery - regionally accurate.Listen to the developers. I know MS tried this with FSX but when I hear that developers have trouble with things like contact points or working around having the VC dome light attached to the landing lights, I am sure they ignored some issues.Better ATC - SIDS, STARS, emergency landings...Better reliability across different hardware and please release a product where it will run well on currently available hardware. The community will push the sim to its limits which will push everyone to upgrade their hardware anyway. If you start with something no one can run, it takes way to long for the hardware to catch up. It has taken 3-4 years with FSXAnd lastly, get it right the first time. There are too many versions of FSX floating out there and it seems like developers were dealing with a moving target. Only recently have they started testing with SP2+Acceleration.

Agree on the ground handling improvements. Also the turbo-prop modeling I think can be improved.I would like to see the runway selection and perhaps some taxiway selection logic exposed so it can be modified by a bglcomp-style process per aerodrome with sufficient variables to get usage approximating RL better.Sloping aerodrome terrain.scott s..

No announcement as far as I know. But don't spoil disillusion anyone by introducing reality- some may still believe in Father Christmas.

Accurate storms and weather systems like; tornados, snow accumulations, storm damages to aircraft and scenery, actual full over cast. Also more visual options like; more shadowing options (Aircraft shadows and VC shadows seperated, buildings cast shadows on aircraft and scenery,) OpenGL support, DX9 DX10 and DX11 shader options, city lights illuminate the sky, and landing lights illuminate the ground and objects along with casting shadows behind objects.

:( The last official press release was 16 months ago when MS closed ACES

And number two most import thing: BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY WITH ADD-ONS!!!
I disagree actually. If I recall correctly, it was stated (I don't remember where) that the main reason FSX was as bloated as it was, was because they had to ensure backward compatibility. As much as it may hurt the add-on developers, it would be better for the purposes of optimization and overall ability of things to work properly if backward compatibility were axed for FS v Next. While it would be nice to have backward support, FSX has horrible problems due to having to support FS 9 addons. On top of that, I've seen plenty of developers, both payware and freeware, just make the FS9 version and copy it as directly over to FSX as they can to get it to just work, then release it. That winds up causing a lot of problems with functionality, and can even impact frame rates heavily. As for my personal wish list:- a proper weather system- REX style environmental areas- Update the landclass so that you don't have as many issues as FSX. Why do we have in default a desert Europe, why is my town where an airport is located in a forest in FSX, and why is that area surrounded by forest and not farm land.- Proper support for modern hardware- A LOD system for avionics, with the ability to set complexity levels of avionics- As a extension of that wish, the default aircraft to have multiple levels of avionics, with the highest being completely accurate, up to the levels of even the electrical breakers and stuff like that modeled.- Flight dynamics improvements: most of which Al listed above, but I personally would love to see Ring Vortex State and Dust affecting engines

Iron out the bugs in the Weather Engine, sure there are 3rd party Developers that have done their best to improve it, but it's still way from perfect.A common Navdata database that can be used by FS (ATC, GPS) and 3rd Party developers - easily updated in one download, to include Navaids, Airways, SIDs, STARs etc. At the moment if you own several 3rd Party Aircraft you may need to download 5 or 6 different databases, and within FS it's almost impossible to update, as it's in BGL's all over the place.Linked to the above, allocation of SIDs and STARs by ATC, dependent on Runway and flightplan (including AI)Improve the AI engine to reduce bottlenecks at Runways - At the moment AI(1) lands, AI(2) is still some 5 - 6NM out, on approach and AI(3) waits, etc, etc. The improvement would be AI(1) lands, AI(3) taxis into position and holds, AI(1) leaves the Runway, AI(3) is cleared for Takeoff and does so, AI(2) lands.Possibility to make Taxiways directional dependent on Runway(s) - Larger aeroports tend to have "one way systems" that change depending on the Runways in use, would probably reduce bottlenecks/headons caused by AI taxiing in and AI taxiing out, often on the same Taxiway.Possibility to exclude a Taxiway as an exit from Runway, again Runway dependent - Often seen AI trying to exit the Runway where there are Aircraft waiting for Takeoff, instead of moving down the Runway to the next clear exit (mostly GA types).Correct Drive In/Drive Out parking - At the moment we are using the "Plumbing" technique from I think, Jim Vile, of overlaying a second AFCAD, onto the first to achieve this. Not always successful and can play havoc with the drawing of Taxiways (the directional Taxiway could possibly be used here, one way in and one way out).I'm sure I'll think of other stuff, but there's enough here to keep MS occupied for a while,regards,............Adrian W.

As nice as this is, and as much as we like to drool at our own wish lists, this exercise seems academic at best. And as we have learned already........great expectations are only disappointments waiting to happen.Aerosoft however seems to be closer to a (not yet) confirmed new flightsim ...somewhere in 2013.http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=30062

There's nothing stopping Aerosoft looking at the above wishlist. In fact, I'm sure they will do so.Al
