May 21, 201016 yr A quick load feature that sets up frequencies for IFR/VFR approaches etc. automatically would be great. If it would also be possible to autoload an approach-chart in a separate window and with a print feature then it would be luxury.
May 21, 201016 yr Alpha Fade of Autogen has been top of my wishlist for a VERY long time. Fix that and I can die happy.Thats one major problem! we really need alpha fade!! I would love too see some work go into the autogen system and of course all the possible shader enhancements too the sim some upgrades too atc would be nice! :( and please for the sake of scenery designers please upgrade the ground work make it easer for them too implement shaders on ground and other techniques. May 21, 201016 yr Even with ASA/ASE there is still a lot I would like to see improved in the weather area that is limited by the FSX engine.Personally I would love to see the weather engine fixed so that we have:1. No more sudden changes is visibility ie. climbing out of IMC then all of the sudden the ground is clear or going from 20 miles visiblity to all of the sudden 1/4 mile visiblity (still happens with ASE)2. Volumetric clouds that we can actually fly through and we cant see ourselves in spot view3. Better rendition of clouds/weather actually forming or dissipating and dropping rain/snow/hailOn the subject of weather related things:1. VC rain drops2. Realistic looking snow that floats to the ground not like the current snow3. Hail possible?4. Cloud shadows5. Lights from the city areas actually light up the sky on overcast nightsPerformance wise:1. Better use of mulit core processors since it will be easier to get more cores than to increase core speedsBetter ATC and AI control - low on the list compared to the other things I have listedFrankly, I am pretty happy with FSX as far as what can be done with ground tiles and/or photo scenery, but the only thing that I really think needs the most improvement, besides performance, is the actual weather/atmosphere related items I listed that can't currently be overcome due to the limitations FSX poses.A great big "Ditto!" for me. ;)I would also add better damage modeling. I know this isn't a "shoot-em-up" flight sim, but I would like to see damage effects for flying outside of the envelope. -landing gear damage-flap damage-prop damage, etc...The current "freeze the sim and restart" option is horrible and it's the only reason that I fly without that realism feature turned on.Great thread and very good opinions being shared so far. May 21, 201016 yr Personally, the passion for FSX fade almost away after I learned all there was supposed to learn (IFR, IVAO, etc). The whole FSX world (locations) look almost the same. Too boring.I think the next big improvment for Flight Simulators in general is well done global Photorealistic ground textures and that is what I started working on since last Dec 2009. Cheers
May 21, 201016 yr A request i made to the team was the reintroduction of shadow models, as a designer i am always trying to find ways to optimize the framerates by reducing the load on the users machines and the current system duplicates the mesh to project the shadows of any material that does not have "no shadow " checkbox selected. While i have produced a workaround and am making use of it to have a low poly duplicate cast / receive shadows on the aircraft , it would do a world of good to have theshadows projected on the same mesh as the textures or barring that the ability to use shadow models as part of the LOD system again should lead to something on the order of a 30% increase in framerates, to see the difference yourself turn off aircraft shadowing and ground shadowing , then look at your framerates.
May 21, 201016 yr The ability to step outside of the cockpit and do other tasks like a Walk-Around inspections of the aircraft, checking fuel tanks...ETCThis would complete the total checklist required before flying an airplane. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
May 21, 201016 yr We've got most of the eye candy, I say go for more realism. so that would include...Most of the eye candy, you say... Well, I think we are not even CLOSE to what I'd like to see. We all got so used to what FSX shows us, but really, when I look at FSX (even at great scenery like PNW or an addon like Darrington) and then outside my window, it doesn't come even close to reality... I am missing SUNLIGHT, I am missing real shadows (of everything), I am missing real trees (I would LOVE to see forests that exists of trees over a forestground texture, where the trees make up the forest and not (as it is now) where you need textures of trees to give give you the illusion of a forest), I am missing details around houses like hedges, gardens, whatever, (not to mention the houses themselves which right now are nothing but boxes with textures on them). To take it even further: I want the real world in 3D in FS!!! :( (And by 3D I mean that every real life building is where it should be and you can actually see it in 3D instead of on a flat screen!!!)I know, this won't happen in FS Live (or anytime soon in any sim), but until I can't see the difference between FS and what I see outside my window, I am not satisfied and I need more eye candy. :( Still, when I see where FS was 10 years back and how things look now AND how hardware is evolving, it wouldn't surprise me if a 3D FS would be realised within 10 years... Maybe not the entire world, but I wouldn't care about that: I rather have ONE region completely realistic (right now I don't fly anywhere else than in PNW) than the whole world in generic crap. :(
May 21, 201016 yr ACES were developing FSX into FS11(?). Microsoft closed ACES and dispersed its staff over a year ago. What reason is there to think that Microsoft has resumed development on the same lines as before and will include all these additional features just for minority market of FS enthusiasts? Gerry Howard
May 21, 201016 yr I'll just take a quick look on FSX.So let's see..-Sunshine reflections in VC mode.-The ability to declare emergency/perform emergency procedures.-Virtual cabins on default jetliners-Real life CFM56-7B soundsets on the 737-More accurate IFR procedures.-Using actual photos for airport reference-The real world in 3d on future FS releases (definitely)-The ability to be the ATC even when not on multiplayer mode (talking with AI)-Inclusion of the Monas Monument in Jakarta (I never found any FSX-compatible Jakarta scenery-The looks of cities are based upon the date chosen for flying (E.G. Using the Jakarta-Kemayoran airport when flying on any day in 1975)I guess, that's about all I want Microsoft to change with. May 21, 201016 yr The 3D instrument panel should be fixed. The panel moves on accelleration/decelleration and on climp/level/descent, i.e. changes of attitude. I prefer the 3D panel as it has a nicer look, but only the 2D panel gives me a static/fixed cockpit. That you can fix yourself by editing the fs.cfg file! Bert

May 21, 201016 yr Anyone mentioned runways that aren't flat.Being able to land on an undulating surface would I feel bring a lot of realism.Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
May 21, 201016 yr Passenger implementation at airports and in aircraft, and crew too, especially a nun with a guitar and a small boy that can visit the cockpit for those 'Airplane' moments LOLReplace Ron Machado flight lessons with flight briefings from Johnny. May 21, 201016 yr What I want to see most is improvement to the way FSX 'brings the world together'. It is obvious that it develops the terrain in one place and the wtare in another and the clouds, planes and autogen in another and then the skies and then it throws it all together. Some people say FSX has 'scaling' issues and they're right. Its the way FSX was made. persoanlly it hurts my eyes. Id like to see the graphic presentation 'come together' more.I think things like cloud shadows would fall in line if they took care of the above problem. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life.
