The exterior you can paint the dirt on if you create liveries. The 747-400 I think comes with dirt.

I just went through that VSD PwerPnt and WOW! I really want the NGX now.

...I do really hope there's going to be a "Used/Fresh" checkbox somewhere in the options. Nail%20Biting.gif The state this flight deck is in is disgusting and depressing. Don't pilots ever wash their hands before pressing buttons and touching panels? Doesn't maintenance ever wipe things down with alcohol and replace worn carpets? Simulation is not just about the realism of rendering the fingerprints of the pilots untidy and uncourteous enough to leave those all over the screens - touching a screen is bad workplace etiquette, by the way, because instructors have pocket pointers for that, and pilots don't have any reasons to do so, unless, well, it's a touchscreen - but also about enjoying being inside the cockpit. While a cockpit of a plane that's sitting at a Boeing chalet at Farnborough or Le Bourget is enjoyable, this one is clearly not. I see enough grime in RL cockpits to have to cope with it in sims as well.Seriously, if I saw a cockpit in this state, FO would be working overtime with alcohol wipes and a duster during the initial cockpit prep.. :(
My feelings exactly.

I would hate to be your FO. Better yet, Id look at you and say, talk to scheduling and tell them to give me 150%. Until then, i'm an FO, not a maid. The pay is bad enough, im not putting up with cleaning the cockpit.

There are people, who make significantly less than a FO, who's job it is to clean the cockpit.

It is for the end of the year the PMDG 777 or 2011 ?William :(

I agree with you on that but that is their job. Its the equivalent of a a ramper asking an FO or CA to help load bags. Its not in the pilot's job description to help load bags. Personally I would gladly help but if a ramper told me to help rather than asked, I wouldn't even bother. The attitude of the poster conveyed to me that he would expect the FO to clean the cockpit so HE the CA wouldn't have to deal with a dirty cockpit. That's why I wrote what I wrote. Besides, it comes down to the fact that someone should not ask someone to do work that doesn't have to be done when they could easily do it themselves.

I prefer the dirty look personally. I don't think it's dirty and not at all as someone posted as being disgusting. I should say, I like the broken in look, or worn. If the MCP gets scratched or color start to fade on buttons, they don't replace them. From all the youtube videos and 7 Airline DVDs I own, not one cockpit looks anything remotely close to factory fresh. The idea to have check boxes for this look is a good idea but I just don't know if that would be practical. I would imagine they would have twice the work to do in that case and wouldn't look as good if it was just an overlapping layer of smudges and/or scratches etc.

I agree with you. On some aircraft that I have seen, the buttons are so worn down the medal is all that is left and it is up to the pilots to know what that button is for even though there is not a label anymore. The level-D sims don't even look factory fresh. Granted they aren't as bad as line aircraft but the point is no Aircraft will look brand new.....realistically speaking.

I too really dig the used look! One the things I liked about the j41, is all the fingers smears a d dust on the screens, nice touch in my opinion. It will match the floor around my sim setup lol.

PMDG j41, 747-400x, 747-8i/f, NGX.......Finally!!!!

This forum gets really silly sometimes.... I think there should be a separate subforum, like a pilots lounge or a similar scenario where people can have off topic discussions and lock and pin announcement threads. The view forward with the ngx thread was out of control and was very difficult to find relevant posts. Just something to keep in mind...Cheers, Luke Stevens

Hehe, you and me both! I'm normally a neater person, but this summer I can't keep up with my cat and two dogs. I have animal hair everywhere and just vaccuumed yesterday, looks like a bird strike but hair as a substitute for the feathers :(

This is one of the first posts I've made here about the NGX.I come here once, maybe twice or three times a day, looking for NGX content in the way of announcemnets or info about the upcoming aircraft.I couldn't agree more with what Luke has just said. It's a shame that such a professional outfit has a forum that is so full of nonsense.I, like so many, are eagerly awaiting the NGX. I have done a stack of Ozzie paints for the J41 and am looking forward to doing the same for the NGX.I'll certainly be glad when it does arrive.Frank Cooper

Don't get your panties in a bunch there Frank, you or Luke. I have no idea what the hell either of you are talking about with the recent posts. It is feedback to PMDG. I have 7 websites and have run 2 companies and hardly see anything wrong with people talking about what they like, don't like etc. We're talking about their aircraft and what they put into them in both effort and imagination. Some of the other threads, yeah I can agree to a point, but its all in good fun. I read some of you cryers out there complain about, well pretty much everything you can and others whining about "OMG I went on vacation, came back and can't find the topic!!!" I guess I'm just some sort of genius then and some of you are just retarded since I can come back after days and pretty much find everything I missed within a couple minutes, in fact I answer half of the ones I read and am still only at the comp for about 5 minutes at a time. I love my flights simming, and PMDG's products, but wholy crap, some of you sound like damn Trekies your so serious about everything, and seem to only have this as an outlet. Unplug for a while,,, the resolution is pretty sweet outside ya know.So I guess I am equally stupid, since it bothers you that people aren't as serious as you or luke, and it bothers me that people are.
