So how does the PMDG 737NGX compare to...

I thought the MD-11 was released at the end of 2008? Or maybe that is just when I bought it. Or I guess you mean major as in a totally new product from the ground up (with all the features you are trying to put in).

Can't wait to get this bird up and running on my system! :( 2 small questions though:1. Is the compass between the two frontwindows selectable (show vs no-show)?2. The handhelds at the front windows...are they clickable so you can fold them to a horizontal position?Great job guys!

I can't believe how much you guys (the lot of you) put effort into digging up release date "promises" and similarly defending something that might have been said, at some point. If it was up to me (disclaimer: I know it is not :)), I would just single handedly delete all posts discussing release date projections, broken / kept promises on release dates and just about everything that would move the "is it there yet" subject to one direction or the other. Why would I do such a thing? Because: None of this speculation matters when making a plane of this complexity. Many of the ideas that were valid a week ago, can be obsolete today. Any discussion on release dates / projected time-frames in the business of flight sim development on PMDG / Level-D etc. level are quite useless. If we're talking a lower level / complexity products, it's easier to make and keep promises, since the level of detail approached in those products doesn't raise questions in the same way the more detailed product development does. Anyone who's been involved in development or serious testing of an airliner product for FS knows that for each problem solved, you'll have 100 waiting for solution. To sum up: forget about the release date, don't ask about it, don't even discuss it... Be thankful that it takes time, that means they are working on it. When it's ready and up-to specification, you'll get a note of that probably on this forum, and on 100 other forums dealing with our hobby. Then you can pick it up from the store and enjoy :). Let's say you miss the initial release by 2 months... big deal. By that time you'll be able to read SP announcements and with any luck, one is already out. :)Tero

it is like a Kansas City Shuffle.
As a non (but very interested) US citizen, you have to explain this one biggrin.gif What is a Kansas City Shuffle? Or are you referring to the song?

I remember a time when this topic was about comparing the FS2004 737-NG, to the in development FSX 737-NGX..........yea. SO........I'm going to be honest....I am NOBODY......a newb on this site with a few (but informative) post.........so I don't know how much my comment will make an impact, but who cares about what RSR said....... SERIOUSLY, some folks just have WAY to thin of skin. I would rather wait 6,8 months, hell even a YEAR longer for this product, and have them guarantee us as little bugs if not ANY as possible. If the statement "the customer is always right" is to be applied to this issue......then guys....... we (the customers) were WRONG.....ok.....everyone bugging about the release and negative comments and when is it coming out.........when can I buy it.......and this and that, have frustrated the developers to the point of an outburst (which in my opinion was quite toned down to what I would have said)......let it be. I promise you........this bird is a big deal, not only to us, but to them too. THEY want to get it out as much WE want them to get it out......and they know it........and come on.....we know it too. Patience is a virtue.......6 year olds don't have much patience.....we're all adults. I love and respect this forum.....so unfortunately I can not word this in the way that it should be said. And to anyone that wants to comment on this negatively.......be my guest......because I don't care.....I less than care......I NOTHING your comment.......and will most likely reply with a smileAnd to PMDG.......whatever man.........Im still enjoying my 747-400, 747-400LCF, 747-8 and MD-11.....the true fans....the ones that will stand by through out delays (and technically there haven't been.....its still 2010), thick or thin, honestly and truly do not care when it comes out......only that it comes out being the best possible product that it can be with the best team of developers and with the absolute greatest amount of realism....nuff saidJoin the United States Marine Corps.......go to basic training, and in the first week tell your DI that you haven't received your eagle, globe, and anchor yet and that its taking too long and see what happens.Get !$#@ing OVER IT...........cry babiesgood talk

I think its about professional integrity. When one says it for sure will be released in 2010 then there's bound to be alot of questions inquiring about the release date when we're nearing the end for 2010. Personally I dont care about the exact date, I want it to be released when its finished. This was just a comment on why there might be an increase in the amount of questions about this particular subject these days

Well I guess thats why pencils have erasersbiggrin.gif ut you want to know what I think is professional, not giving into outside pressure, and not collecting money for a product that they don't think is at 100% to there standards, that is PROFESSIONALISM at its purist.

Hi RyanI feel bad for you that part of your job is to monitor this forum. Its got to be one of the worst parts no doubt. I mean think of it this way, Its like trying to monitor a bunch of guys at a bar whilst designing and building a complex piece of machinery in front of them....sure the night starts off wonderfully (this is when the NGX forums started) conversation starts off civilised and intellectual and everyone is happy and excited having a great time...... but as the night goes on the guys get more drunk and the conversation gets off topic, gets twisted and to some extent irrelevant not to mention repetitive (pages 10 to 95 of the View Forward with the PMDG 737NGX, pages 10 to 43 of Some Dirt on the NGX and pages 10 to 21 of So how does the PMDG 737 NGX compare)........then the night takes a turn for the worst when the guys start giving each other sh&t, call each other names and fights start to break out (which is about where we are at right now) all the time you are trying to finish your project. I guess its a necessary evil that you have to monitor the forums but customers and potentional customers are all going to speak their minds on here whether they are positive, negative or in different and some will bang on about topics which are either not popular or which they wont get an answer to (for a number of reasons) and i certainly (as im sure you are) hope that you allocate less than 1% of your time to monitoring this forum. At the end of the day your skills are much more important than 'baby monitoring' and trying to monitor a bunch of drunken people who wont comply with what you want even though you asked multiple times probably happens to most pub owners every weekend.....its just the nature of beast just like these forums. I know its a crazy analogy but it certainly lines up i reckon. Any way no matter what has been said about this project in my opinion this will be the most amazing thing to happen to FSX since the release of FSX itself. Not many companies can have that sort of affect on so many people. And to take a 'glass half full' attitude towards the release date comments, take it as flattery, we are all so keen to get hold of her and mean no disrespect by asking these questions we are just a bit a drunk cos its so late in the night ie. so far down the track with this project. (back to that analogy again lol).Mike Kendall
Hey again Mike. Funny how you get into this. In my years in aviation I have never seen quite the crowd like aviators. Flight simmiming is sometimes somewhat the same. What I mean by all this is fellow pilots stab each other in the back constantly. I have surfed aviation forums and OMG. Talk about a negative bunch. I don't know why this is but it is. Its seems like we are fighting for each others job or something and as a sense of security (or whatever) pilots insult each other's companies, etc. I have a bunch of friends that work at Air Canada. I would never want them out of work or through layoffs. But you should see the slagging that goes on sometimes between these two companies. I am sure lots of companies in the states are like that too. Why they do it? Not sure. I have my theories but that is all they are. Sometimes I see the insults go back and forth on this website too. Maybe because it aviation related and we're cursed! Its funny because I am trying to learn the art of drumming and I am on a few forums. As well I play paintball and I am on a few forums there too. In each of these forums there is nothing but very polite, courteous people always willling to help out their fellow man. It just blows me away the positive energy you feel when you are on those forums and the help and encouragement you get there. Then you go to aviation forums and WOW. The rudeness is mind-boggling. These forums seem to be somewhat in between. I just wish they could be a lot more civilized sometimes. The goofy thing is, sometimes there will be two people arguing, insulting each other on here but if for some off chance these two people met at a pub having a beer they would probably get along like they are best of friends. If anyone ever has had an arguement on these forums with someone I wouldn't doubt if both of you ever went to an avsim get together that you would probably not even know you are shaking the guys hand that you had an arguement with, sit down, have a few drinks and talk all night not even knowing that this was the guy you thought was a meathead previously. I find it funny how hiding behind a computer can bring out the worst in us sometimes. Just remember whether it be SMS'ing, messages on forums, email, or whatever the context of a message can not usually be properly received. So try and give the other guy the benefit of the doubt if you receive their message the wrong way. Usually a sorry always does the trick down the line anyway!Just remember guys we are all here to have fun. We are not competing against each other in any manner. Help out the fellow simmer when you can and some good friendships are always created on here. I have met a bunch of people through FS'ing. Most of them I have only met 2-3 times in person. But after 8 years or so we are still chatting all the time. Its sad but I had a friend in FS'ing that used to control on VATSIM. We have chatted for years but I never actually met him. I chatted with him I think more than I talk to some of my friends that live in the same town! But not too long ago he lost the battle with cancer and I felt terrible for never taking the time to meet him. I could have on many occasions since I overnighted in his city quite a bit. This community makes it worth while when friendships are built on a common ground such as FS'ing or whatever. And if you are the one of the younger guys that planning on getting into aviation don't underestimate the power of networking. I have a friend (one of the friends referred to in the paragraph) that just finished college and now he is looking for a pilot position. Fortunately one of my friends that I used to work with owns his own company and I told my friend to apply and put my name on his resume. Well my friend called him for a job. The crummy thing is his Roger's cell phone didn't notify him of the message in his mailbox and it went undiscovered for a week! He could have cried he said. I think I could have cried for him. Man, I felt his pain. It seemed like yesterday when I was in his shoes. Any pilot knows that first job is like winning the lottery. Its hard to get. But I called my friend that owned the company and he said they will be hiring again soon.Interesting read I had quite sometime ago. If you are in aviation you can relate. Pilots are typically negative people (typically!). A psychiatris did a study on this. Basically it came down to the conclusion that ever since day one of training we are trained in our minds to think the worst. Your training is based on a negative environment. Fires, failures, bad weather, etc. And of course a pilot never stops training really. Simulator every 6 months, recurrent IFR, etc. When was the last time you have an aviation flight exam where you took off on a beautiful, clear, smooth day and did one circuit and landed and that was it. I wish! You are programmed in your head to be thinking of all the nasty things this instructor is going to pull on you. Is it going to be the simulated fire, failure, smoke. Drives some people into being a nervous wreck with all the anticipation. So story from psychiatrist goes, with all the negativity that is involved in a pilot's lifestyle this negativity is transferring into all aspects of a pilots life. A pilot typically thinks the worst. Not because of the way they really are but because of the way they been trained to be. It was an interesting article.Oh BTW, Mike, NONE of this was meant towards you or anything. I just read that part that I bolded in your post caught my eye. So instead of getting down on PMDG about release dates or anything lets give them the postive support they want to see when they are probing these forums. You and I both KNOW bugging them about release dates are going to do ANYTHING but produce negative comments. In the meantime have fun and be safe!Jack C

Sure. It was just a bit clumsily handled in earlier stages of the development, but they seem to have got it right now, judging by RSRs post. People make mistakes. Its natural for humans. Its just that estimates and "promises" gave false hopes. The amount of arguing and discussions on this topic shows that people care alot about PMDG products and are very much looking forward to the NGX. It would be more worrying if there were no discussion on this topic, that would surely signify that people didnt really care that much about the upcoming plane. Bas Rutten, a dutch professional fighter that used to work as a bouncer once said in an interview
A fight was going on and I would walk in and say "Guys, come on, could you leave it?" And then if they would say "Yeah, but he looked at my wife!" and I said "Yes, but thats a compliment. You should be happy. If they looked at your wife and went 'uuhrg', thats not a compliment. If youre not up to that and you got a beautiful wife then you shouldnt go out all the time"
HAHAHA this is classic. You may have just given me a new line in my sig. :( I agree with every bit of your post but this honestly made me laugh....hard.
