So how does the PMDG 737NGX compare to...

Featured Replies

It couldve been my fault partially. I may have touched a raw nerve when I asked if the 'coming 2010' line on the NGX page was still accurate. Didn't expect Robert would do something like that. Funnily enough I never asked for a release date and it was just a bit of constructive criticism to spark debate. Anything I've said about it was either with the most respect possible or as tonge in cheek. I even had one guy message me saying don't talk about release dates otherwise they wont release it this year. Like a company of this size would do it out of spite because of a couple comments made on a forum. I think we all need to take a deep breath and relax. I'm surprised such an innocent comment can get a CEO to act in such away ( tonge in cheek I hope, but a bit below the belt)Mike Kendall
To be fair I do know the pressure I am sure he and his team are under. I too have been under the gun of a deadline, dealt with clients who thinks they know about my choosen profession than I do, despite the fact of all the professional hours I have and the years of school I got to learn my knowledge. I too even have made a post here on these boards that the second I pressed the submit button I felt like I shouldn't have done that. On the other hand, I was dissapointed with the post. Maybe because it is due to the fact that I log on this morning and see that thread, with a title that suggested it was real, and legit, and then to read that, my first reaction was "I didn't deserve this." I don't know, maybe that is petty, my I overracted, maybe Mr R overreacted. But I do believe that it should be removed.
This is the kind of thing you would expect to see from Mr. Kok over at Aerosoft, not PMDG. I guess they figure when it's released, everyone will be on it like a pack of hungry dogs, so no big deal.
It definately doesnt have that traditional PMDG feel that is for sure. More like what I see at Level D. I dont have any first hand experience with Aerosoft or Ariane, but I am well aware of their reputations.I still chalk it up to stress. And I wont take it personally.

i don't blame them for posting it, after all people were speculating a release date and assuming stuff, therefore starting rumors, the title may be miss leading, but think about all the time a select few in this forum waste the developers time asking about a release when simply it will come when it comes, they could be developing a plane rather than dealing with several people asking stupid questions they will not get an answer for.just my two cents worth

Finally a short and right answer from Robert. You must have done it much earlier, Robert.

I guess my only response to that is people are speculating not starting rumors, there is a big difference. Lots of good questions go unanswered for one reason or another. And lastly PMDG would certainly know what to expect with regards to the type of content posted in here with all the years of experience and no doubt allocate time and resources to it accordingly. Also be mindful that what you consider to be a stupid question may be important to the person who asked it. I for one have not been waiting for any other plane than this one so I must admit I don't fully understand what expectations I should have or what others may consider to be an inappropriate question to ask.Mike Kendall

Hi GuysFOR CRYING OUT LOUD, WILL YOU ALL PLEASE STOP BICKERING ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE!!I can very well understand Robert and his team's frustration in having to constantly reply to all these stupid and unnecesary posts. This is going to be the biggest and most sophisticated 737NG release yet, and I can just imagine how many thousands of lines of coding have gone into creating this unbelievable product. If you want quality with the least amount of possible release bugs, then please be patient, and I promise you PMDG will not let you down. From all the published screenshots you can very well see that this is going to be a product way above the expectation of anyone. So, relax, sit back, fly the PMDG JS4100 with its stunning virtual cockpit and for the fun of it, add FS2Crew voice control and I promise you, before you know it, the release of the 737NGX will be in your face and then you can all pull those dusty credit cards from your wallets and buy a product that will be top of the range for a long time.Enjoy Life!

I did't like the post and it's kind of humilaiting and expresses disrespect, the tilte could be different and content could be more mature, at the end of the day we are customers, I feel sorry now for wasting my time reading it.
I thought it was brilliant.

Ha ha ha ha brilliant RSR!I just finished work and got a laugh out of your sticky :)With all i have going on in my life sometimes i do wonder with all honesty how people have the time/energy to even think about when the next PMDG aircraft release will be,I simply do not have the HDD space left in my brain for things like that.Keep up the good work guys....-Dan Parker

OK just to get peoples mind off this release date topic. I will make a post outside of this post asking simple systems questions just to get some fun started. If Ryan could make it a sticky that would be great!Jack C

I dont have any first hand experience with Aerosoft or Ariane, but I am well aware of their reputations.
This is a bit offtopic and probably not even allowed, because it's not PMDG related, but I gotta ask: The way Aerosoft does business is similar to Ariane 's way of dealing with things? On topic: You can't do good no matter how hard you try. If you choose to be open, people will take from it what suit their needs and slap you over the head with it whenever they seem fit. If you read carefully you'll find most questions answered in this forum, including release dates. Besides that every one knows the policy of PMDG, as well as other software companies. If you don't ; simply browse the forums and you will. In spite of that people still ask the obvious or try to push for answers, they wont get. But what is more frustrating people start to interpret all kinds of things and doing so spreading all kinds of innuendo and rumours based on nothing. In that light I read capt Randazzo comment. It is funny, bit sarcastic, but - in my opinion - only adressed to the ones that repeatedly ask the obvious and spread these stories. If you're not one of them, why would you be offended anyway?

I didn't find it unprofessional at all. Made me laugh, actually. Anyone who has lurked around the forums for a while should know it was said with some humor, but also had to be said. The release date question has been asked ad nauseum and always with the same exact answer...when they are satisfied it is ready to be released. Yet people still insist on knowing when it will be done. So those of you offended, you need to lighten up a little. The world isn't going to stop turning if it's not released tomorrow (but that doesn't stop me from checking every day!).And I wouldn't blame them for having a little innocent fun with us since we're all chomping at the bit for every little morsel of information.

Tony

Personally I think RSR wondered if we would be as annoyed by his post as much as they are annoyed by the endless 'is it ready yet' posts. For a parent who got fed up with small voices asking 'are we there yet' I can sympathise.

I guess everyone is really disapointed right now... as part of the joke the ngx will be released next friday, so everyone is extra happy!Speculating about the release is something I read for more then a year now. PMDG was never sarcastic like this. I felt there was no need for this post. Just say nothing, like they did during the development.Crediths to all of us: it's not strange that there are even more speculations now there is a series of screens every now and then. The website still indicates 2010 and there are less then 2 months to go. Of course we speculate. Just be clear to and there is no speculation. Ready when done is not clear!

I think that sometimes the devleopment team got to realise how much desire there is to fly their product, how many years since a 737 FSX was announced? My opinion is that the post was a little rude, misplaced and misguided. A lot of newbies come onto the forum and ask a release date. This is natural and very common, the staff have never ever answered the question in the way the original poster wants to , so it should not spark such a rage. it should be "un stook" and get on with the discussions about pmdg just my opinion ;).Remember words are just words, there is nothing no one can say on these forums to get the pmdg on our desktops in a shorter period of time, so it shouldnt be such a serious debate :)
